As an avid lover of folklore and cryptozoology, I wanted some way to encounter the mythical Bigfoot in Skyrim. There were a few mods for Oldrim that did an ok job but nothing I was quite satisfied with. That led to this!
The mod adds two new randomly spawning creatures to Skyrim: the Sasquatch, found in forests, and its snowy variant the Yeti, found in colder climates. Both have new custom drops: hair and hide. Their hair is an alchemy ingredient with appropriate effects, and their hide can be crafted into leather or new armors with new thematic enchantments.
IMPORTANT: now ESL-Flagged. The .esp file has been renamed to prevent save corruption, so if you update from version 1.0 make sure you remove the original sasquatch.esp
What else is new in version 1.1:
- Mysterious NPCs with new recipes to teach you! Look for them by the Hunter's Rest and on the 7,000 steps
- Strange new armor sets with (planned but broken) powerful effects
- New models and improved textures!
- Both species now carry branches,
because I couldn't get rid of the giants' club animationsready for tree-knocking! - Removed unnecessary worldspace edits and modified references
To Do:
- Fix scripting attached to new armor - if anyone with a working knowledge of papyrus could offer assistance it would really help
- Refine combat mechanics
- Add Hunters faction and quests
- New creatures! What would you like to see?
Compatibility
The only mods that would be incompatible are any that edit LCharAmbientCreatures or the cells HuntersRestExterior01 or Wilderness(12,-16) on High Hrothgar.
This is my first mod for Skyrim and I'm learning the Creation Kit as I go. I'm aware of most problems and am working on them in my spare time, but if there's anything I missed, feedback and tips are greatly appreciated!
Special thanks to Dirtfoot84's Bigfoot Encounters for the idea and method of random spawns, and to user Megapatato for the feedback
