Compatibility:
Several patches are provided at Open Capital Whiterun patches, including patches for Cutting Room Floor, AI Overhaul, and grass mods.
A couple of lessons learned from this that can be useful if you want to create your own patches for Open Capital Whiterun or Open Capital Windhelm (or another city overhaul):
Use Hishy's script at first. However, it does not work on xEdit 4.1.5k or later, but Jonado has provided a fixed script here: Hishy's Open Cities converter script improved and updated
The game can crash when multiple occlusion planes are on top of each other and also if there are too many occlusion boxes overall in a small area. It might be worth using the xedit script in misc files to purge all occlusion planes from the output of Hishy's script and then re-add them manually.
Hishy's script does not handle doors properly, it duplicates actors, and fails to forward changes to persistent references from Skyrim.esm that are moved to the Tamriel worldspace by Open Cities. Jonado's version fixes these issues.
Navmeshes need to be resolved manually. Some AI packages may need to be updated manually too.
If you save your patch in the Creation Kit with OCS loaded after capital expansion it will change the order of masters. This gives people the option of esmifying capital expansion.
If you want to create patches for Open Capital Whiterun, a two-step process is necessary: First run the script normally. Then replace cOcsFileName with 'Open Capital Whiterun.esp' (only works if first removing the ESL flag), run it a second time and merge the changes.
