Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for making this! I was really disappointed Diverse Skyrim didn't have a patch for Requiem, and finding this was a nice surprise. I'm going to take a look and see if this needs any fixes for 5.2 later, hopefully it's easy to patch.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed this mod! Unfortunately I haven't touched Skyrim (or any other videogame, for that matter) for a very long time now due to an injury that caused me to sustain some pretty bad nerve damage a while back, it's a bit difficult for me to use computers now and it'll probably be quite some time before I get a chance to play the game again. So no plans to update this mod anytime soon, sadly, since I'm physically unable to do so at the moment.

But if you (or anybody else reading this post) have the knowledge/expertise feel free to go ahead and tinker with the files yourself and patch it as needed to suit whatever the latest update is. Just let me know afterwards and I'd be happy to link on the description to the update if you post it yourself, or I can upload it directly on this mod page if that's what you'd like to do as well. Will sticky this post for visibility.

Success! All files are now go. Standalone file for the Imperial Legion has been uploaded. I took the opportunity while fixing the Legion spawns to make some deeper changes, see changelog below. I may make a merged file in the near future, but since that wouldn't be compatible with the standalone versions I'll hold off for the time being. As always, since I am a first-time modder, let me know if you run into any bugs or issues.
I uploaded a Form 43 version of the Soldiers file as well. Unlike the Female Guards file, which was only a few leveled lists and also was designed to directly inject into Requiem.esp (and thus could simply be copied into a Form 43), the Soldiers file has a lot of unique references so I think there's a higher chance the file would cause issues in-game (potential save corruption) because of how convoluted the CW records are; I suspect they might be different between LE and SE and so things would reference to the wrong place. You're welcome to test it if you play on Oldrim, but make sure you make a save before you do. If it does (or doesn't work) I would appreciate you letting me know.

    V1.2 Changelog (Female Soldiers):

    • Added properly perked female soldiers into the Imperial Legion - they will spawn in military camps (can be regular soldier, quartermaster, or wounded soldier), during sieges, and during fort attacks. Note that they will NOT spawn at Korvanjund during The Jagged Crown quest; I did this to avoid accidentally breaking any quest dialogue.

    • Whiterun Guards will participate in the defense during the Battle of Whiterun (Imperial, unconfirmed if it works on the Stormcloak version). I don't recall if this happens during vanilla Skyrim, but since the option was available, I made it so. Because if an invading army suddenly starts hurling fire at your city, why wouldn't you try to defend it?

    • Legion soldiers will now spawn with shields, done by tweaking the spawn gear lists. Because if you're charging at a fort where every enemy either uses a weapon longer than you are tall, or has a shield they can bash your face in with, why wouldn't you bring your own shield? (Note that if you have another mod that adds shields in some manner, depending on how they implemented it this may result in soldiers spawning with more than one shield.)

    • Added considerably more variety to post-CW Imperial Guards spawns:
-Variety of both female and male spawns is increased in terms of available NPC templates, utilizing Requiem's ActorVariations feature (this is also used for the regular soldier spawns).
-Guards will use both light and heavy armor, and will spawn with a variety of weapons. Heavy armor users will also sometimes spawn with two-handed weapons.
-Since guard spawns are based on template archetypes, they will spawn with appropriate skill level and perks for the weapon they are using.

As the Female Guards esp does exactly what its description says, no need for a changelog for that.

      Some observations for the curious:

      1) First off, the records for the Civil War in the game - holy hell. I mean, they're a hot mess. No wonder Bethesda gave up on the CW and cut out a bunch of content. It's basically impossible to navigate properly and figure out where anything leads. I'm amazed I got anything working at all with how it's organized.

      2) Quest voices at Korvanjund for "The Jagged Crown" (Imperial) quest are tied to a character template called "YoungMaleEager" or something like that. That means beyond Legate Rikke (and Hadvar, if he shows up), only a few predetermined spawn presets will have ambient dialogue while in Korvanjund. That means others will be mute in non-combat scenarios for the duration of the quest, including female spawns. I think the game is designed to spawn these specific NPCs at the start of the quest for the dialogue, so fingers crossed the quest start will function as normal. However, the quest still proceeds as normal even if the dialogue is left unspoken, it'll just seem like Legate Rikke is talking to nobody.

      3) Ambient camp dialogue in the military camps seems to function perfectly, even with female NPCs. The implications of this are interesting - this means Bethesda scripted the camp scenes to run even with female characters and voices on the Imperial side. Why bother doing this if you weren't going to use it? I'm even more convinced now that this entire thing was a Bethesda oversight or overlooked due to time constraints/more important gamebreaking bugs given how badly structured the CW files were anyway (I mean, the game was a buggy and broken mess when it was released, so clearly they needed more time).

Well, I would be also glad to see this one updated for 5.x Requiem.
As from my own experience, keywords and stats were not significantly changed, but patching is still needed.

As much as I don't like to self-promote (Well I do, but it always feels pretty scummy), seeing as this mod is said to have a lot of issues, an alternative could be my mod, Hold Guard Armour, provides a solution to what this mod tries to solve (adding female guards).

It also does a LOT of other stuff so it might be a bit 'bloated' for what you're trying to do, but it works.

Diverse Skyrim also does this (I think) without the fancy schmancy MCM (linked in the compatibility section of HGA, or just look it up).

Nothing wrong with a bit of self promotion, everyone wants their hard work to be used, amirite? Would have totally agreed with you on the "lot of issues" part yesterday on the legion spawns, but after figuring out some stuff earlier, the errors were much less severe than I expected, so it's not that bad IMO.

EDIT: as I have fixed my mod, I can happily say "lots of issues" no longer applies here.

I've actually come across your mod before (and Diverse Skyrim) - good choices for vanilla Skyrim, I'd say. But I know for a fact Diverse Skyrim isn't compatible with Requiem, which was actually the direct motivation for creating this mod.

I'm unclear if your mod would be compatible with the way Requiem overhauls the perk system (unfortunately, the default answer is usually no), but for any of ya'll reading this, do go check out this mod if you're interested in the armor change portion.

I have many female Imperial/Stormcloak soldiers and I have female guards in every hold, I am not sure what mod gave them to me one one of them did this but it may be this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2360. Of course that may not be compatible with Requiem, and it may not be the one that gives female soldiers and guards to both sides. I am not sure on this but I thought I would point it out as you asked in the description.

    Cheers,

Interesting, thanks for letting me know. Never used Warzones myself but considering it's big enough to be an overhaul on its own, I would be unsurprised if they incorporated female NPCs into the spawn lists, although logically if it's only modifying the Civil War I don't see why they would bother also modifying the spawn lists for hold guards. Definitely not compatible with Requiem though, considering the sheer number of new NPCs that would be involved. I'm getting a headache just thinking about patching it for Requiem, good luck to anybody who tries that.
