About this mod

Fixes the egregious uv mapping for branches on one particular type of fallen tree. Removes floating bits of branch and tries to reduce obvious branch cut off lines.

Permissions and credits
Over the past two days I have gone to war with one particular species of fallen tree whose vanilla UV mapping is so bad as to induce seizures in infants exposed to the hysterically poor branch maps. Luckily most people don't pay attention to such details. Unluckily, I am not most people and if you're here then you probably aren't either. Once you see the floating chunks and cut off branches, it's hard not to see it on every log of this type that you come across. Other logs suffer from similar issues, but the lapses are much more minor and well hidden.

Most flora mods don't edit the UV mapping for these branches, they just edit the mesh and or textures on the log itself. I tried installing new branch textures as well, but almost every branch retexture sticks to the vanilla texture tiling profile in order to avoid cut off issues and conflicts with other mods which might edit the mesh/UV maps. Some like "Skyrim 3d Trees and Plants" or "RUDL" fix the issue by completely removing the branch UV textures. This didn't sit well with me as I thought it looked worse/barren.

Anyway I took it upon myself to painstaking find the individual UV map nodes responsible for this and edit them one by one until an acceptable new map was achieved, and so at the cost of my sanity and a decent chunk of my limited time on this earth I present my fix for the issue. The changes made this mod are seamless and shouldn't be noticeable unless the issue has stuck out to you before. As an added bonus, the splinters at the ends of the logs have been removed leaving only the splinters attached to the actual log model. No more throw up chips on the end of the logs.

This mod replaced only three meshes, and so will conflict with any mod that edits these meshes. Thus far, I know it is compatible 100% with the tree clutter option from enhanced vanilla trees since that does not edit this mesh. Any retextures are 100% compatible, unless the branch textures used deviate significantly from the vanilla tiles in which case you'll notice the issue right away.

In case you're wondering how it feels to spend your holiday learning how to fix tree branches because OCD won't let you do otherwise:
