Great work on the saddle. Just to let you know that these saddles work with Immersive horses. I am having one small issue. In my game, all horses are showing up with Imperial saddles at the start. I even saw Stormcloak horses with Imperial saddles. I am not sure what is causing it. Horses that you purchase have this saddle equipped. I had to buy a regular saddle to switch it out instead of vise versa in a vanilla game.
edit: nevermind, I see you answered my question in the reply to hamletsdead below :)
Why is there a mesh nif file included if this is only a retexture, not a mesh edit? Does this mod change the mesh or the uv map? Does it change the name of the texture the mesh uses rather than just replacing the texture?
I ask because I wanted to use your texture and the high poly saddles from Higher Poly Vanilla Saddles. If one only replaces the texture and one only replaces the mesh, they should play together if they keep paths to textures and uv mapping the same. Thus I'm so confused why this includes a mesh.
FYI these work on the Witcher Horse Expansion -- just hide the saddle mesh file from this mod and the textures apply just fine. No clipping, no wierdness as far as I can tell.
I think if i remember i added environment map, and made the mesh double sided and that dirt overlay but textures same map as vanilla so should be fine with stuff, as long as mesh is vanilla like
quick question: I wanted to "dye" the cloth part blue (for personal use only, of course) but I'm unable to open the file with Photoshop. I always use it to fiddle around with textures but this one won't open.
Am I doing something wrong? Are there different types of .dds files? Would be glad about a heads-up.
that's weird, could understand if you have a horse mod installed and the saddle was using a nif from a BSA, did you install the mesh with the textures? the mesh should replace the vanilla so not sure what's happening there
I'm getting a crash in my game that lists "imperial saddle.nif" as one of the relevant objects in the log, along with something about [null] lighting shaders, possibly relevant but most likely just specific to my messy setup. I have Immersive Horses too. But also, thanks so much for these fantastic textures!
Update: I had to remove the mod to stop getting the saddle.nif crash near Riverwood.
Run your meshes through NIf optimizer and have a look through the log file, you may have an older mesh from another mod I would copy the folder before running it outside of the games folder so if you mess things up its just a copy and only run a folder or parts of a folder at a time not all in one go. : )
All your harness and saddle textures are beautiful. I have downloaded them all. If I could make a suggestion. The red saddle cloth with the black bridle and breastplate would be stunning. But if not, thanks for these, as I said, they are awesome.
thanks, glad you like em, the textures i use now are good quality, makes hell of a difference, don't have a lot which is why i stick to what i've got, i'll upload a replacement mesh or recolor it i don't know, a few years ago i thought like that and i installed photoshop portable and then a few others, recoloring is just cutting around things and adjusting color sliders, or color replacement brush, should have a go i'm no artist i just like the game and now i can't go past something without examining the damn thing... actually i just made some of it black and white doing it now
