Unarmed Combat Enhancer (UCE)
by. Noxcrab

NOTE : This mod is no longer supported. Unarmed overhaul is added to Requiem - Weapons and Armor Redone, and will receive further updates in that mod.

[ Descriptions ]

Requiem - Unarmed Combat Enhancer (UCE) is a mod for enhancing unarmed combat experience in Requiem - The Roleplaying Overhaul. It is intended to give viability and natural progression to unarmed combat by adding new features and re-balancing existing system. The mod associates unarmed with One-handed skill : attacking with unarmed weapons will give One-handed skill xp, and One-handed perks affect unarmed. Other One-handed related features are also changed to work with unarmed.

UCE also adds new unarmed weapons - Cestus, Claws, and Spikes, which functions same as unarmed but provide reasonable boost in power. They are craftable, enchantable, and applies armor penetration for unarmed to make it viable at high level.
(They do not have mesh however as I don't have the skill for that myself - use UCE Addon below)

Many other unarmed related features are added changed to fit Requiem's balance.
For full detailed features of the mod, check the ARTICLES page.

+) Requiem - UCE Special Feats Patch patches One-handed skill tree to include all perks from both mods.

+) UCE Addon - Cestus and Claws is an extra addon that adds cosmetic Cestus and Claws that can be worn over your gloves or gauntlets. They can be crafted at the forge using 1 steel ingot (Cestus has two versions - Tight and Loose - to fit various hand sizes). They can also be enchanted with enchantments for hand slot (has ArmorGauntlets keyword), such as Fortify Unarmed.
* UCE Addon does not require Requiem or this mod. It is completely standalone.
* UCE Addon is included in the main mod, so you don't need this if you use it.

[ Requirements ]

Requiem - The Roleplaying Overhaul, and its requirements.

[ Compatibility & Load Order ]

Compatibility Notes :
  • Check ARTICLES page for full list of changes by this mod to identify possible conflicts.
  • Minor Arcana (Reborn) will conflict with UCE, as it also changes several One-handed perks to affect unarmed. I assume loading UCE after MA will resolve all conflicts.
  • If you use Requiem - Expanded Grimoire or Requiem - Magic Redone, load it below UCE. There will be conflict with Transmute Muscles spell, so let the magic mods overwrite.
  • If you use any race mods, let them overwrite UCE.
  • If you use any requiem-compatible vampire/werewolf mod for Requiem or any patch for those mods, load them below UCE.

Load after Requiem. The load order should be like below :

   Requiem.esp
       :
   Requiem - Unarmed Combat Enhancer.esp
       :
   Requiem for the Indifferent.esp

[ Note for Mod Authors ]

UCE applies various damage multipliers to unarmed & unarmed weapons to compensate for their lack of base damage (unarmed damage actor value). Thus, high unarmed damage bonuses (like +10 ~ 20) will boost the damage too much when used with this mod (e.g. mid-level warrior with 40 base unarmed damage will get 50% damage boost with +20 unarmed damage bonus).

When making patches, it is recommended to lower the unarmed damage increase as much as possible - if comparing with Fortify One-handed, about half the magnitude is ideal (e.g. 20% Fortify Unarmed == +10 Unarmed Damage).

Also note that unarmed attacks with this mod will benefit from both Fortify One-handed effects (OneHandedPowerMod) and Fortify Unarmed (UnarmedDamage actor value modifier), so if one item/spell has both effects, leaving only Fortify One-handed effect is recommended.
