About this mod

A simple mod that adds six adoptable vampire children to Castle Volkihar. They're basically normal adoptable children, outside of their appearance. Comes in ESP or ESL.

The Why:
Back in April, I put up a simple mod that allowed DeathHounds (and others) to be treated like Vanilla dogs, in which, children will
ask for the death hound to be a family pet. I wanted Vampire Children to complete the “Undead Wholesome Family” image. Originally for personal use, I decided to put this mod up just in case I lost the file in future.

The Who:
Rafner & Jorny
They’re stereotypical Nords; pale skin and blond hair.

Orins & Maeen
They’re stereotypical Redguards; brown skin and brunette hair.

Waylen & Gisrun
Waylen is a male Redguard, and Gisrun is a female Nord. They’re cross-dressers.

The Compatibility:
The children from this mod don’t interact properly with “Hearthfiremultiple adoptions” by TMPhoenix. I’ve no idea why.

The How:
I used Darth Sidious/SummonTheDaedra’s mod “Lucy And Louis -Adoptable vampire children” as a reference – making NPCs is relatively easy, but I was having trouble understanding how to give them basic behaviour. Like walking around the castle.

So, in simple terms, all these kids are a clone of Babette, since she is the only vampire child in the game and they use Serana’s Castle
Sandbox for moving around the castle before they’re adopted, in which case the game will change them to adopted child behaviour.

After putting them all into the world, I edited their appearances to be more in line with my Load Order.

The Bug:

On the subject of Waylen and Gisrun: They are an experiment - that doesn't work. NPCs in Skyrim can either be male or female, which determines which model an item of clothing would show - shirt and trousers or dress. In vanilla Skyrim, children share a model, with the only difference being hair. So, getting a girl to wear the boy's outfit and vice-versa *should* be simple, but it isn't.

My attempt; mark an NPC one gender, and then give them the opposite voice. In practice, this works when adopting them, but not when they're actually living in one of your houses, in which case they won't have audio. Still technically functional, but immersion breaking.

Feel free to still adopt Waylen or Gisrun, but just know that at the moment they won't have audio after they're adopted.
