Growl Update 2.1.0+ fixes compatability issues!(10/13/2020) I just talked to EnaiSiaion, the mod author of Growl, about the issues that occur when using both mods together. Now he updated his mod including a fix! Personally, I've gained more than 30 fps back in some scenes. Try it out and check if it helps!
Major Update 2.0 released with a brand new fomod-Installer!(11/08/2020) Including more than 30 new optimized meshes for Opulent Thieves Guild. A huge thanks to TMushS for his help!!! The installer allows you to easily pick the option fitting for your mod list. The SMIM barrel replacer addon is included in the installer.
Well, I'm not really sure if the meshes will work correctly. You can definitely test it, I think there's a good chance for it to work. If you do, please give feedback of your experiences with it!
I've tested it, it is not fully compatible with Oldrim. While there is definitely a noticable performance imrprovement you get to see mesh/texture errors in the form of red boxes with exclamationarks everywhere.
Thank you! Never thought I'd be so happy to stare at some cabbage barrels without fps drops! :D
Anyway, I see this type of issue with non-optimal meshes is kinda common: I've FPS drops when looking at the desk at Rayek's End, for example. Is it too naive to ask if there is a general fix that could help?
If not, and if you are taking suggestions, maybe you could expand this fix to include more projects? I'm pretty sure a lot of house mods could be improved with this. Don't want to sound like a lazy demanding guy, though LOL
Great job, thanks again! Endorsed btw
EDIT: Forgot to mention that after using this fix the guild safe/vault was open. So right after burning some apiaries I knew Mercer was stealing from the guild. Not huge but thought I'd report here.
A general fix for all mesh introduced FPS drops is not possible. Some mods have poorly optimized custom meshes which need a rework. In detail, the collusion boxes have been reworked here, because they've been insanely detailed, just like 16k textures for small objects. So if a mod does have the same mesh problems like Opulent Thieves Guilt and Distinct Interiors it would need an own patch/fix.
At the moment, I do not have any plans to expand these mesh fixes to other mods, mostly because the incredible TMushS helped me a lot with this! He was basically the one readjusting the collusion boxes - for any new fixes we'd need him. ;) If you have a particular (and popular) mod in mind which needs fixing very badly I can ask TMushS if he'd do it again. :P
Yes it is. The core mod does only replace meshes, this is a 100% safe. The optional SMIM barrel replacer addon comes as a small esl flagged esp plugin, which should be absolutely safe too. Feel free to upgrade

Feedback is as always appreciated! :)
Edit: I installed the barrels and this fixed it. Sorry for the post.

There is also this wild edit in 00016BCF, you should remove the XEZN subrecord from RiftenRatwayZone from the FPS Fix ESP:
You can read more about that here: https://tes5edit.github.io/docs/7-mod-cleaning-and-error-checking.html#AppendixBManuallyCleaningDawnguard
