    please make sure to read the description, it's especially important for this tool.

    Hey guys...when optimizing headparts, following the logic in the description, can I consider hairs (WIGS) as helmets⚡...?
    And do normal optimization, without checking headpart only? Thanks...🤘

    Hi there, I used SSE NIF Optimizer to convert LE mods to SE successfully before. Now I got an outfit mod that gives me a headache because in my conversion the textures of the clothes are tinted in chromatic colours. Just the female meshes, the male is ok. In Nifskope though everything looks fine: screenshot.

    I tried a lot of things with Nifskope and Outfit Studio but nothing helped. I still believe there must be a simple fix for that but I just can't see it. Any help would be appreciated.

      My guess would be that you're using ENB and one of the textures has an alpha channel that it shouldn't.

      Thanks for replying but the screenshot was made without ENB and the textures don't have alpha channels. I'm still clueless here.

    Great tool, I've been using it for ages.

    If I take a mesh and scale the vertices individually in different axes (x, y, z - in LE format because Nifskope doesn't have this option for SE meshes), and then optimize the mesh to SE the normals get messed up. I can click "Face normals" to fix them but the mesh doesn't look as good as it does before the optimization. When optimizing I never select "Smooth normals".

    Is this a known bug, and if so could you please have a look at fixing it?

      Scaling a mesh uniformly shouldn't affect the normals. How are you doing this edit in NifSkope and which vertices are you moving? It doesn't happen when you optimize the same mesh without moving vertices in NifSkope? If so it's probably a NifSkope issue?

      That's the problem, I'm not scaling it uniformly. Right-clicking on a NiTriShape (LE meshes only) and selecting "Transform -> Edit Vertices" lets you scale the mesh differently in the x, y and z directions, it's very handy for tweaking meshes without having to import/export to Blender. When you do it there is a checkbox to scale the normals as well, which is selected by default and I always just leave selected.
      I used NifOptimizer to convert the mesh (a sword) from SE to LE in the first place, to be able to scale the vertices, so converting it back to SE without scaling the vertices obviously doesn't mess up the normals.
      It may be a Nifskope issue? but the edited LE mesh looks perfectly fine (the normals are correct) and it looks normal in game, the normals only get messed up when I use NifOptimizer to convert it back to SE.

      I did some testing and it's after I scale the mesh along one axis and then optimize it that the normals become messed up. As I said, the normals are not messed up in the scaled LE mesh, they only become messed up after optimization.
      I imported the scaled LE mesh into Blender and it looked fine there too, I then exported it again and ran the exported mesh through Optimizer and this time the normals did not mess up. So importing-exporting 'fixes' whatever problem Optimizer is having with the normals.
      When importing a nif into Blender it loads 'Custom Normals': "a way to tweak/fake shading by pointing the normals in directions other than default, auto-computed ones" (this is why using 'Face Normals' in NifSkope ruins the look of some meshes), maybe Nif Optimizer doesn't take custom normals into account?

      SSE NIF Optimizer doesn't touch the normals unless you check "Smooth Normals". NifSkope must be calculatung either the normals, tangents or bitangents wrongly when doing the modification and it only becomes visible when converting the data to the SE format. I don't think it's something to do with the optimizer, in which case I can't do anything about it.

      If your mesh doesn't need custom normals you can try to optimize it with "smooth normals" enabled in the optimizer. That'll look better than just "face normals" by itself. But if the mesh does actually have custom normals and you need them, then you already found yourself a workaround with Blender.

    How do I know a mesh is out-of-range like you mention in the description?

      In Nifskope you can right-click on a mesh and select "Texture -> Edit UV" a small window will open showing the UV map. It's a crude way to edit the UV mapping but it's much faster than importing/exporting to Blender.

    Every time I try to download this, my antivirus detects it as malware and immediately deletes it. The program works fine. Just in case this is a potential issue to anyone.

    If you get a crash to desktop after the NIF optimization when you hit with an enchanted weapon (sword, axe) it may help to reinstall the Precision mod.... my experience after 2 hours of troubleshooting.

    Note that SSE-formatted NIF files do NOT work in the old Skyrim any longer.
    So what should I do to work in the old Skyrim?
