Since 2011 Riverwood has always felt a bit empty and underwhelming, while the characters are fleshed out and all have different traits and personalities their respective homes didn't represent this well enough in my humble opinion. Now I hear you ask "why use your overhaul when there are already loads available?", a fair question. My overhaul aims to stay true to Skyrim's original designs and merely expand upon what was already there. If you like your Skyrim immersive AF and with minor impacts on performance then I think you'll enjoy my work on the interiors and exteriors.

A special thanks to the wonderful viewers who watched me create this overhaul on Twitch, besides keeping me entertained some of their ideas also made it into this mod. You're all legends!

If any of you reading this want to see content like this get made live by all means stop by my Twitch channel. I also have a Twitter and Instagram :D

So what does the mod add specifically?

  • Gates were added to the west and south gatehouses as well as supplies for defense such as oil and war horns to alarm the town. The gates are open by default since nothing ever happens in Riverwood but with the ongoing war, it can hurt to have them ready.
  • Alvor got a few expansions to his work station such as a fitting dummy, firewood supply, display stand and more bits and bobs. In his house you will now be able to find an armory in the basement as well as a unique weapon.
  • Hilde now has a new hobby besides yelling about dragons, gardening! The back of the house now has a little garden for her to spend some time in, additionally the front now has two flower planters and drying herbs that she can obsess about.
  • Feandal's home now includes an exterior skinning installation, fletcher table, archery range and more flora around the house to make this Bosmer feel more at home. Additionally his interior received a similar treatment and by the looks of it he is also preparing a romantic dinner.
  • The Riverwood Trader is trying to lure more customers into his shop and tossed some decorations about his shop. It also looks like the exterior of the shop now contain some crates and other larger items that he couldn't haul inside his little lair. On the topic of his lair... The inside of the shop now contains more items that Lucan has for sale, no idea where he pulled them from before but this time around they are actually on display. Lastly Lucan finally made the plunge and got himself a nice basement to store some of his treasures.
  • Gerdur and Hod finally build a doghouse for their loyal stump, while they were at it they also put together a chicken coop with some leftover lumber. Their sawmill has also been improved and looks a bit less fabricated. You will also notice more trees have been cut down alongside the riverbed. Gerdur had a big brain moment and figured out the logs float downstream towards the lumbermill where they can fish them out. SMART!
  • The little island had its trees removed by the lumbermill and is now used as a community garden. If you want to take Camilla(no judging) out on a date I recommend the new covered bridge, it's quite romantic at night. Lastly for the sporty among us you can try your hand at catching some fish from the newly added docks.
  • The Sleeping Giant Inn now sports a state of the art stables, anyone who needs to park their horse is welcome to it. The exterior of the Inn now has a small terrace and to stay true to its name it looks like Orgnar tried to replicate Giant markers on the exterior of the Inn, neat. The interior has seen a massive facelift as well. Lets just say the place has a bit more personality now and doesn't look so generic anymore. Did you notice they mounted a boat on the ceiling and a mammoth skull to the back wall?! The expensive room also received some nice upgrades to make it feel ever more premium, mini bars are so 20th century... In 4E 201 you get your personal damned bar! Oh Delphine got herself a shelf for all the disguises she uses to sneak around the province, as well as an armor stand for that stashed Blades Armor she doesn't want to part with. Lastly Orgnar doesn't have to worry about the ale going bad anymore, well, maybe he does but at least now he can simply get a new batch from the basement that seems to be filled with food, drink, furniture and anything else a proper inn should have.
  • The east side of Riverwood now has a burial ground, you can pay your respects to the founders of Riverwood and any other unfortunate souls that ended up here, be it by war, misfortune or old-age.
  • Lastly there are a few hidden treasures scattered around the village, it might not be the first thing your half burned, traumatized and out-of-breath Dragonborn will think off but once you've cleared your mind and spend the night at the Inn to rest up I recommend you look around and see if you can find anything that will help you on your journeys.
