Dark Era to me is the best combat music mod for Skyrim, I love Jeremy soules work but in my opinion combat music was never his strongsuit, and dark era has some very hype combat music with clear norse and witcher 3 inspirations that I admire. Problem is, the implementation of the original release left much to be desired. It used the no vanilla music of personalized music as a base, meaning you don't get to hear jeremies beautiful work when exploring. Permission given by HerressANeef for upload.

what this mod does:

- re edits all tracks to start at the upbeat portion of the song along with ( for a few ) re editing the middle sections of the song as some of them had minute long slow paced sections. This is great when listening to the songs on youtube, but in the middle of combat can be a little underwhelming.

- replaces vanilla combat tracks so that combat music stays consistent without requiring the no vanilla music version of personalized music ( NOTE: due to this some tracks will be missing if you do still choose to use the no vanilla music version )

- all vanilla replacers have been edited to match the vanilla music length ( give or take 2-3 seconds ) along with all of their finales to prevent songs from playing over each other

- separated some tracks from the original mod by theme. Miraak, Karstaag, and Lord Harkon get their own unique and fitting theme, picked 5 tracks with a battle-type drum beat for civil war music, and picked 8 tracks that use the flute for dragon fights

- all files converted to .XWM to minimize file size using a 192kbps bitrate for maximum quality. Converted using Yakitori Audio Converter


Requires Personalized Music - If you already have existing tracks in your personalized music folder just rename the files in this mod to go after your existing combat music. DO NOT TOUCH the mus_combat files in the combat folder, those are the specific files that replace the vanilla combat music.
This mod was made to work for SE. I do not play on LE so I cannot say for sure if this will work on there or not, but unless LE has something against 192kbps bitrate .xwm files I do not see why it couldn't work.
