This oil replacer is so much better than vanilla. I'm using the oily water one so it's not so bright and saturated, for my personal taste. Ramccoid always made amazing, high quality mods. RIP Roy
Thank you so much for porting this and allowing us to continue to use and enjoy his mods in SSE
to each their own. As the description says though, this is a port. They look better than vanilla and as far as i know are kinda your only option for a retexture if you want one.
The look of the oil is determined by the cube map environment mapping (oil_e.dds) look up oil film on water, after installing this you can change the cube map to give it a different look but it will only be a small change as its still in the same image space.
You can try the cube map from these mods or just remove it from any mod that covers it and give it a go. : ) https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/38760
Port or not, OP is right. On large puddles, it looks like giant painted surfaces, not much immersive tbh. Textures are only a part of the issue though since oily surfaces are iridescent, not mostly pink. Better cubemaps and perhaps less opacity would have certainly helped, it isn't about taste or whatever, oily puddles don't look like that. Unless one is going to rework it, Vanilla is still better, or at least less weird.
