Description:

This mod adds an extensive quest, leading you to various places all over Skyrim. In addition to new locations and dungeons you'll meet new NPCs with more than 200 fully voiced lines of dialogue spoken by three actors. The playing time is about two to three hours.

You'll find a corpse on the Carth river shore. The person died without any apparent signs of physical trauma. Around the person's neck you'll recognize a shiny, black amulet. You grab it without hesitation. Waking up you find yourself drenched in sweat in the "Four Shields Tavern" in Dragonbridge. A young Vigilant of Stendarr is watching over you. Upon closing your eyes, you can hear it in the distance again: Pained voices and dark shadows haunting you in feverish delirium...

The quest starts at on the road towards Solitude (south of Katla's Farm) where you will find a corpse near a fork in the road.
This is the English translation of the German Mod "Der Schatten von Meresis".

The quest starts at the Solitude Sawmill (south of Katla's Farm) where you will find a corpse on a little sandbank in the middle of the river.

Ported to Skyrim Special Edition by: Phantom (aka Ghos71y).

My own huge special thanks to SirJesto, wankingSkeever, and Guy from Earth (sorry, I don't know your nexus profile) on the /r/skyrimmods discord server for much needed additional help.
And especially to JeramyWillow for information on initial issues plaguing this port as well as managing the mod/answering questions etc. Thanks again, I really appreciate it. Please drop Hebrock as well as all of these guys a kudos if you have the time.

A Note from Phantom:

This file was originally last updated on June 10, 2013, and as such may have edits or decisions that are relics of that "past age of modding." Don't be deterred by this, because comments on the original mod page as recently as April 2020 are quite positive (and this is part of the reason why I even decided to port it). I personally don't have enough time to play-test every part of this mod so please let me know of any bugs with the mod itself (not conflicts with other mods), and I will try to get them fixed as soon as possible.

I ran the .esp through the Creation Kit and ran the assets through Cathedral Asset Optimizer. I also cleaned the plugin and patched any obvious overwrites between this mod and the DLCs as well as the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch. There were a couple of overwrites that were not as obviously fixable, such as conflicting navmeshes (with Hearthfires) and I would appreciate any additional help with those and would love to get this plugin fully compatible. Please send me a message if you know how to fix any of the remaining conflicts in this mod, and I will happily update it.

I will not, however, provide any patches of my own besides getting the file compatible with USSEP. The permissions for this file are open so feel free to create and upload any patch you make. If you would like me to host the patch on this page, feel free to send me a message as well.
