About this mod

JK did an amazing job of overhauling Skyrim's cities but unfortunately, meshes and textures have been neglected by modders with no new 2020 upgrades. I have used vanilla assets (foliage, banners, misc that do have amazing texture updates as of 2020) to cover up some of these eyesores. Check out the before and after images.

Update 13-03-2021: CMSTORMTROOPER20 has granted me (Poepkat) admin rights for this mod. In CMSTORMTROOPER20's absence I have created a proper ESPFE patch for JK's Skyrim, removing the original replacer file (which was an unintentional violation of copyright) and making sure the file is easily updated if a new version of JK's Skyrim releases. The new version of JK's Skyrim - Ugly Totem Fix is compatible with the newest version of JK's Skyrim (1.7).

Small fixes to Whiterun and solitude to make your stay more aesthetically pleasing. I may update this mod with other cities such as Markarth, Riften and Windhelm if they require it.

Whiterun --- Covered the ugly vanilla totem bases with foliage, wooden misc, planters general misc.
--- Added some extra wooden walkways as part of the vanilla assets I used to cover up the bases.
--- Added some stone or wooden assets to mask harsh seams or edges

Solitude  --- Removed all occurrences of the horrible moss/ivy wall texture and replaced 50% of them with standard Ivy / Jazby / Hangingmoss the rest is just
bare walls to save on performance.
--- Covered ugly pillar and some wall bases with the planter to mask texture stretching or textures looking off because of the mesh shape

Installation --- Install JK' Skyrim, then download the ESPFE patches.
--- Should be safe to install and uninstall, mid-game but I tend to try and not change my configuration during a playthrough.

Suggestions for best possible Whiterun aesthetic ---

Skyrim Landscape Overhaul - Stone Walls --- A stone wall mod with more 3d looking stones is highly recommended, this mod is great because of the realistic textures but there are others on the nexus.
Whiterun Concrete Wall Top --- I have used several walls in this patch that are around eye level, I have always found most textures from other mods to look terrible with how they stretch over the wall mesh. The concrete texture fits with any wall textures you may have regarding the colour scheme and has  a reasonable amount of detail / noise to still look good IMO.

Your game doesn't look the same?
--- My screenshots are subject to the textures and meshes I have installed so results may vary. If you like what you see, here are some of the main mods but I have installed that contribute to the look present in the images:

Skyrim 3D Trees and Plants
Skyrim 3D Rocks
Skyrim 3D Docks and Boardwalks
Skyrim 3D StoneWalls

Why? --- Those vanilla textures and meshes hurt my eyes.

Queries --- JK if you have any issues with this patch, please contact me and we can hopefully resolve them.

CREDITS --- jkrojmal and everyone who helped with JK' Skyrim (They did most of the legwork creating the main mod which I patched). Also God Howard and the Bugthesda team for creating an amazing base game platform to mod.
