Currently on the DCO upgraded page, appollodown has recommended we continue to use this version of DCO until he is able to update and fix a few issues in his new version... Not sure when that will happen; this note was posted on Nov 4th.
"I am receiving numerous...odd...reports. There is no rhyme or reason or connecting issue to them. If major parts of the mod are not working, like dragons not falling out of the air, or knockbacks not happening, then the mod is NOT functioning as intended. If any major part of the mod is broken the WHOLE THING is broken and you should NOT use it.
IF YOU THINK SOMETHING FEELS BROKEN IT PROBABLY IS.
There may be an issue with the SPID ini not distributing things correctly due to an error on my part. This will be corrected sooner than later. This means that DCO abilities may not be distributed to vanilla dragons for you. I have no idea why it works for half of the users.
Long story short, expect an update soon that should alleviate a good number of people's problems. However it will not fix the majority of odd issues reported, as i do not understand why they are happening."
Do I uninstall the ported version and install the upgraded version in an existing save? I have not fought the first tower dragon yet and have the ported version and want to try the upgraded version by Apollodown but I am hesitant to remove a mod mid game. Please tell me if this is safe to do.
Dude, I love the combat against these dragons. It was so damn fun killing that first one, and then..... I made the mistake of returning to white run. I was not expecting to have 3 massively overpowered (I'm level 6 at this point) dragons to fly in. All I saw was bodies fly. Bodies from Drowning Pool should have been the combat music playing, although I would have already been dead before the first chorus. Not only that, I had to take the headsets off and go whipe, because that definetly would have itched if it dried. Is there a version where I can just have the combat? Otherwise, I can see this being fun for a good challenge or whatever, but it's too much trying to do a natural playthrough. I'm not sacrificing an entire town for Lydia. For crying out loud, even the children died. THE CHILDREN!! (Killable children installed, judge me, some of those little fart knockers are annoying)
There needs to be an option to turn off the knockdown feature. Every time a dragon breathes you're sent flying, which makes it impossible to do anything and has caused my game to completely break on multiple occasions. Don't get how anyone can stand it.
Those three dragon assaults are a complete pain in the ass, plus they stagger and push you around.
Here's my story of this mod performance:
Everyday, dragons will come after you and will harrass your sorry ass, even when you are in the city (like Riften in my case)
Right now, I am doing Dawnguard Vampire side and just as I approach Northwatch keep three dragons can be spotted on the sky. I had to retreat to a shipwreck for some cover. I kill one dragon with huge difficulty. That's 1 out of 3, sounds easy enough right?
Well, NO!
As I was about to leave and make a run for the stables near Solitude, a sky turned red and black, another dragon appeared (I think this a "reinforcement feature"). As it turned out, Alduin was the reinforcement.
Now I'm stuck inside a shipwreck, meteorites falling from the sky and three dragons are still after me.
I adore the mod, but still they aren't screwing around.
Generally a cool mod, but 50% of the time when a dragon dies, it does a magic bulls*** suicide bomb explosion that kills everyone within 100 meters of the dragon. How do I turn this bulls*** "feature" off. First, it's a f***ing cheat, you kill a dragon and after it dies it suicide bombs and kills you anyways because the computer can't stand to lose so it needs to cheat. Second, in any city it just kills every single non-essential NPC, many that still have interesting quests and interactions and you don't want killed.
yeah, I'm done with this mod. Constantly spamming u with at least 3 dragon attacks simultaneously and a bs instakill shout that u cannot turn on or off via mcm. Good combat idea in theory but poorly executed
Good mod, but I really hate the knockdown effect, I use a first person camera improvement with 1st person horses, first person body, and more first person focused, and whenever i am getting flung around by dragons and my camera is shaking all over the place, it really makes me motion sickness, and for this reason I had to uninstall the mod, I love some of the mod options for this mod, such as the timed attacks, and more death animations, but pleeease make a mcm option to disable knockdown, I know you say just block it, but I can't always block the dragon attacks, and it gets very repetitive and makes me motion sickness. Also I have a dual wield build, so it is impossible for me to block
To important things: First I am so grateful for this mod and it has changed Skyrim in a way that breathes life into was felt do docile and dead, with even more on tip so thank you for that. Secondly, *spoiler alert for the dragon soul curse* in this version is honestly crap. I didn't want to spoil it for myself thinking there's a cure or something, o I searched high and low, far and wide to find what? nothing? Good for character storyline, not so much for any idea of what to do. I thought maybe if I spend the souls I'll be free, bu8t with more and more Dragons that wasn't going to happen and didn't, so I figured there must be another way, right? Wrong. Problem is there's too many dragons and maybe you had it in the last MCM, but there's no way to expend or release dragon souls, so if you get it at an early level (level 5) you're stuck with it the rest of the game because you are likely never going to catch up with all the dragon attacks, even if you want to run away your followers might kill it anyway. I had to seek another mod to spend all my souls and there were many, many souls to spend. Knowledge for knowledge is okay, but maybe if there was a system to keep in mind the order so you could expend that cursed soul...sometime? Instead of having to vent them all before you're cured...I don't know...I'm but a humble gamer and nevertheless I'm exceedingly grateful even with this flaw...I'm so glad to be rid of it somehow.
I just want to disable the dragon's ability to knock you down.
I really think this mod is invaluable in how it changes the dragons AI and movements, but the knockdown is just too much-and I truly don't care about the people who just respond "git gud."
The mcm doesn't have the option to adjust the dragon's capacity for knocking down the player. Is it possible for me to achieve this?
If it was just the takeoff and landing that had knockdown as one thing. But the dragon keeps spamming that tail attack knocking me down non-stop until i die. I'm considering disabling the mod just for this reason tbh.
You can't git gud if the boss has some cheap bs that invalidates certain playstyles.
