I am posting this to all my male NPC mods.

I really hate to do this, but I'm just going to nip this in the bud now.  The majority of my comments regarding my work have been wonderful, highly positive, and encouraging.  Then there are those who do not like my mods but move on.  That is the mature thing to do.  But there are those in this world who insist on giving their entitled input.  Constructive criticisms are welcome.  Toxicity is not.  I try to give my mod pages a positive environment while trying to help people get the most out of my mods.  Yet, while I am a happy person, I don't have the patience for entitlement.  I will be blunt.

If you do not like my mods, you are free to find what you like elsewhere.  Free will is a wonderful thing.  Modders work very hard making their creations for you all that are FREE.  Don't be that person who complains about free stuff.  The gaming industry is toxic enough.  Let's keep things positive and fun.  If you don't like my mod, do not comment on how much you hate it.  Those kinds of comments benefit no one.  That includes in email.  I do not care about your perceived entitlement.

    Some notes:

    1. I've dramatically changed some NPCs, especially if they are marriageable.

    2.  I have changed up all the NPCs. I have overhauled my overhauls.  I've added .nif files to the mods, rebuilt the faces using Tempered Skins and SOS Light (mod does not have skins attached) for consistency purposes, and made some other minor tweaks.  I'm happier with it all.

    3.  I've created each updated NPCs from my other mods as well as this with High Poly Head V.4.

    4. I will NOT make one large mod page for all my NPCs yet... 'yet' being the operative word. I have a lot more NPCs to do. When they are all finished, then I will do so. For now, you have to suffer separate files.

If you want to remove NPCs from my mod, you can do so in SSEEedit. It looks daunting, but if I can do it, seriously, anyone can because I'm a techno-idiot. When you open SSEEdit after downloading, it will bring up all your mods. Right-click anywhere and click 'show none' or something to that extent so it unticks all the mods. Then at the top search for my mod by name (PA44 will do). Double click the mod. It will open up all the assets in my mod. Go to Non-Playable Characters, right-click and click remove (not remove filter) for each character you want to get rid of. It will ask you if you're sure, just click yes. Save mod (see the three dashes at the top left? Click that and it will give you the option to save mod.) That's it. You will only have whatever NPCs you want in there. THEN you need to go to the other mod you want to replace my NPC with and delete theirs.

For example: If you only want my Vilkas, you can remove all my NPCs and leave him in there. If you have another NPC mod that changes the Companions, you will need to REMOVE their Vilkas that you are replacing to prevent the blackface bug.

Thanks to smr1957 and sattyre for the heads up on the blackface issue if you edit.

Generally, this happens when you load a mod mid-game.

This is my main mod with all my male NPC overhauls. Here you will find all the answers to any issues and fixes.

No, I've completed all the male NPCs I can do.  I may have missed a couple, but I'm finished.  Cicero is different.  We all know he's an odd bird, but apparently, his game character is too.  The only way to successfully edit him is using LE, then converting to SE.  I don't have LE, so no Cicero.

Hi, I have a bit of a strange question. What mod did you use to give Brynjolf freckles? I used to have a mod that did that, but I can't find it anymore! If you can help that would be amazing!!!!

I have that but it doesn't seem to do anything to Brynjolf? Think it could be the load order? And thank you so much for your quick response!

He should have freckles regardless of having that mod or not.  It's baked into his tintmask (skin texture) that I created.  I don't understand why his freckles wouldn't show up, no matter what skin you use.  When I add things like freckles, they are put on the skin like makeup, so it's always there on the skin when I add it to the head nif.  There's no reason why it shouldn't be there.  Please post a screenshot here of him.

You didn’t follow my instructions . Image works like any other forum.  Anyway I can’t tell with your image.  Take a close up of his face:

type: ~ on keyboard to open console commands
type: tfc 1 And then enter
hit ~ Again to close out of console

now everything should be frozen in place to move around your camera.  Get his face and take another shot.  Preferably in less dark conditions.

Repeat console commands to exit the camera mode.

I am absolutely in love with this mod, if there a way for you to make it for normal Skyrim? I have a save there that i don't want to lose but it's been modded so i can't transfer it to SE.

Thanks!  Glad you like it.  But I cannot.  I don't own LE and I've tried once with a mod anyway, but I couldn't figure it out.  If you can get someone to do it for you, by all means, go for it.

Friends who may have black face glitch; for some reason if you load the mod with NMM it may not actually extract everything. I had the black face bug and was trying SO HARD to fix it, and I just copied the files manually from the zip and it worked.

That shouldn't be doing that unless you're using the older .bsa version.  The older .bsa doesn't have the meshes/textures in loose files and may cause some blackface issues for some people who use multiple NPC mods.  If you download the updated lose file version and it doesn't get all the files using a MM, perhaps the download was interrupted.

Which weight should be Brynjolf? I've changed it and he looks a bit different, I wonder what impact it has and if I can take it back. Does this mod change NPCs weight? And if I change the weight and reinstall this mod, will the change remain?

Brynjolf's weight is 65.  Please do not change the weights.  They are dead set and any adjustments are going to lead to floating neck seams.  All of my NPC weights are exactly as the game has them set.  I do not alter weights at all and take great care in making sure they are as Skyrim created them.  Any weight changes to NPCs is probably a mod.  If you have changed weights, then you have the means to change them either through SSEEdit or CK.  If you have those tools, you can look up the NPC weights, which is how I get my information.

IMPORTANT:  This just came to my attention.  If you are using the updated FOMOD or are updating any of my NPCs, please delete the old ones first.  I have rebuilt all the mods and renamed them a little differently for consistency purposes.  It's best to fully uninstall my old ones and reinstall the updated ones.

UPDATE:  You all asked (*cough* nagged and nagged and wore me down) for an all-in-one installer.  I have figured it all out and I have uploaded it.  Please note that this FOMOD gets bigger and longer to up/download the more NPCs I add.  This includes all my NPCs overhauls as well as POS Presets.  I have loaded it in my Small Town Men ONLY.  I don't want load this over and over... it's big and takes too long.  Grab from link below:

I had a black face bug with Brynjolf, Delvin and Mercer (at least). I had downloaded all in one pack from Windhelm mod page and no matter what I did the black faces persisted. So I downloaded thieves guild pack separately from here and let it overwrite everything and now they all look fine. So might be that at least the Windhelm AIO pack is missing some assets or the esp in it is bugged.

Otherwise great work! With all the pretty female mods the guys really stood out in their vanilla ugliness and it really did break the immersion. Finding good comprehensive mods to remedy that was always a bit of a challenge. Better men is good but I feel like these ones are more on the same level as the best female mods. So def will gradually switch to these as they come.

There's no reason the Windhelm men should affect the Thieves Guild in any shape or form. I did a test run, downloaded from here and all my Thieves Guild Men look great... this is the first I've heard about this. Did you have another NPC replacer that you removed mid-game and loaded mine? That would cause problems, especially if you were using Better Men. Sometimes older mods have residual files left behind. But, I don't have any blackface on my Thieves Guild with ALL NPC mods running nor with my Windhelm men.

I am not sure why downloading the TG separately worked for you considering all the files are listed separately in the FOMOD. It's really no different than going to each mod page and downloading the files separately. The only thing a FOMOD does is let you pick and choose from one source. I'm glad it worked for you, but I still don't understand it. Again, I just tested this out, downloading directly from my mod page and I had no blackfaces at all. There must be something interfering with the mod and whatever you overwrote seemed to work.

      Glad it worked out.

Nope, no other mods other than pandorable for DLCs and the save is new. Of course I did have better men in the past, but that shouldn't be there anymore unless something lingered after uninstalling it, but that was before I started this save. I dunno, it was really weird. Like Brynjolf was also missing hair entirely and only disabling the TG men plugin reverted him back to vanilla state. That's why I suspected the all in one package was missing something. Well either way it was easily fixed by downloading tg men separately, so it's alright. Haven't seen any problems with the other plugins, so who knows what went wrong.

Again thanks for these and looking forward to your upcoming mods for other regions :)

I've had files that lingered even after uninstalling, that includes Better Men. Even after uninstalling one of my own NPCs, the .nif files stayed in Skyrim.esm and caused me brownface. It happens. The hair file I can understand since I have no hair .nifs in the mod (only textures). While I don't need hair mods to run my NPCs, that has been known to happen too. I'm reworking them all as we speak to include hair .nifs.

I seem to be getting a really bad neckseam on these npcs, and ONLY these npcs, which is... weird to say the least lol, since there's no bodies or textures included. I thought it might be my textures or ENB but every other npc seems fine

If you're using a mod that changes their body size, you will get neck seams. That happened to someone else once. She was using a mod that changed the bodies. The bodies must not change in size with NPC overhauls. Or If you are using a skin texture that ONLY changes the face, you will get neck seams.

As far as I know I'm not, which is why I thought it was a bit odd - the only culprit I can think of would be SOS since I don't use any other male overhauls, but then that doesn't change the body sizes as far as I know.... Do you remember which one caused it for the other person? Maybe it's the same thing. If not it's time to go deactivate them one by one lmao

I don't remember the mod she used. You can dig through comments on the Companions NPCs I made. Her issue might be different as the head was more floating on top. The heads, when I created them, have to match the body weight EXACTLY or else you get that problem. When you change body size and shape, it will cause that. I'm not sure if SOS full can do that, but I know is it has been the bane of my existence since I started modding lol. SOS is a pain in the patooty. It's why I never use it. I prefer Tempered Skins with SOS Light instead.

You may have another skin overwriting another as well. Sometimes that happens where one skin is affecting the face and the other is affecting the body. I deactivate all male skins that I have installed and choose only one skin. I know there is no neck seam issue when I play and I haven't had any other complaints about it, so I'm assuming you have a mod on there that is conflicting.

Hm the weird bit is the textures match up perfectly, it's just the color is wrong - disabling all my appearance mods didn't fix it so it seems the conflict runs deeper lol, thanks for taking the time to reply though!

If you can show me an image would help. The different colors tells me there is probably a face mod that is overwriting the body skin. If the colors are off... that IS texture. It is texture files that change the color. For example, if you use Fine Face Textures and another body skin, there will be a neck seam. Actually FFT does that for all because it only changes the face. But, my skin colors match perfectly. They have to. I work especially hard in that area when I create a mod... that and weight.

https://imgur.com/a/t42J6T1 w vanilla body & textures - male characters not touched by the mod series don't seem to have this problem so I'm assuming it's a weight issue at this point. Since it happens on fresh saves too I don't think it's from having a previous mod installed, i think the only fix will be disabling things until I find the culprit lol

Scratch that, I figured it out - it seems to have been caused by a mod that removed falling leaves in riften, which like weird but okay lmao. Thanks for taking the time to try and help <3

OK, it's definitely not a weight issue, or else you would be seeing floating gaps. BUT, HPH does create this slight neck seam. I don't create the faces straight from vanilla, so I can't see what it looks like. When I use Tempered Skins and SOS Lite, there is always a tiny bit of neck seam. HPH does that and I can't avoid that. I found TS and SOS Lite gives me the least amount of neck seam (I get even less neck seam when I do it character creation...it's mostly for NPCs). You can try others, but there will always be a little bit. The reason I think is that HPH has a high poly mesh and the body is vanilla mesh. There's no way around that unless you have a high poly body. The key is finding skins that blend well together. I'm assuming because of that, it will be most noticeable in vanilla.

Here, you can see Nurelion from my Windhelm men. There is still a slight neck seam and a lot depends on the color of the skin. The lighter the skin, the less noticeable it is. He has a slight neck seam, but it's minor and I can live with it (click the spoiler to see image). There is no way around this without a high poly body. There IS one out there, a mod, but if you like your men naked, you won't like this as it forces you to use the loincloth. But it may help you if you're interested. (You have to look it up because I don't remember where it is...I deleted a long time ago, but it's around).

You can also try SAM skins...they have an add-on for high poly bodies.
