Great mod! Would you be able to add colour to just the main cities like i've seen in another mod here https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/4620 Also it would be great if the objective markers were a different colour as it drives me nuts sometimes flying round the map searching for it. Thanks.
I did make a friendly map marker recolor mod a while back for some friends. I'll upload it here either tonight or tomorrow - maybe it will suit your needs.
Hey, thought I'd let you know that I had a go at colouring them myself. Never modded before and took me ages to find out how to open the dds file in photoshop. Was just going to recolour the cities and quest markers but once I started I couldn't stop and coloured them all lol. I'm using intel texture works plugin and I've noticed all the colours become lighter at night (light yellow turns to white) is that just how skyrim works or am I using the wrong save settings? I use colour + alpha, BC7 8bpp Fine (sRGB, DX11+) Mipmaps: None.
Short answer: use BC7 8bpp Fine (Linear, DX11+) during save with Intel Texture Works.
Long answer: Always use linear as sRGB will change the "middle gray" reference and screw up colors. That said, the Skyrim interactive map is affected by a lot of things, including the day/night cycle and weather and any mods that change these things. Other things like an ENB, or "night mode" in Steam VR or the perceived luminosity in the particular VR HMD you are using can change the way you see the color of the markers. It drove me crazy making my color map mod as everyone complained until I finally made several different palette shades and told everyone to just choose whatever works best for them.
If you're still having a problem with a color shift at night, maybe try using darker colors so that dark yellow becomes regular yellow at night. I know that's not ideal, though.
I haven't played Skyrim VR since May. I loaded it up to run a final test on my mod and it appears I'm stuck in an infinite load screen. Ugh. Something weird with USSEP. Still... if you ever need another pair of eyes on something your working on, let me know. I can do a fresh install on another hard disk and load your mod up.
Do you know where the compass images can be edited? There's hudmenu.swf in interface.bsa and compass.swf in skyrimvr - main.bsa interface/vr I've tried editing both and placing them in multiple different folders in the data folder but my changes never appear :(
You are a legend! I've edited so many files hoping it would show in game without success lol. Take as long as you want trying out the recolour. Thanks again!

Looking forward to it :)

Load "Skyrim_VR - Main.bsa" in BSA Browser and extra "vr_hmd_info.swf" from the interface\vr file path.
I just checked and I'm pretty sure that's the right file. I experimented with coloring it a few months back before abandoning the idea.
Take as long as you want trying out the recolour.
Thanks again!
