About this mod

Adds armor rating and base armor perks to Dwarven Automatons, heavy armor Falmer variants and non-flying Chaurus

Permissions and credits
Hi all,

I am running a fairly vanilla modlist with balance and bugfixes, and it always bothered me that very few creatures in Skyrim have an armor rating, making any perks or equipment that ignore armor pretty useless to take.

One of the highest vanilla armor ratings found on an enemy in Skyrim is the Dremora Valkynaz with a measly 193!

I don't really care for large creature overhauls like Know Your Enemy - these mods are great, but they change the game a little too much for my taste.

The goal of this, my first ever mod, is to add a little enemy diversity without changing the vanilla NPC or systems too much.

The first creature that came to mind were Dwarven Automatons, having metal plating on most of their bodies. Chaurus were next with their bony exoskeletons, and then I decided to add the heavy armored Falmer variants that were added with Dawnguard.

Conveniently, Falmer and Chaurus can frequently be found in Dwemer ruins making it a very good idea to take some mace perks or a crossbow into these areas!

I added armor perks, allowed these NPCs to level heavy armor, and added some base armor to them to make them a little tougher (I only gave Falmer the heavy armor perks and levels, they use the same armor as in vanilla).

These creatures will be more resistant to physical damage with this mod. If you don't have any armor penetration, may I suggest magic or enchantments to take them down easier? You can also use poison or bleed against the Falmer/Chaurus!

Happy adventuring!

P.S - Chaurus had a base magic effect that added some armor rating - this mod removes it.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

I highly recommend SkyTweak for balancing critical hit and bleeding perks, as well as giving you the option of adjusting the NPC armor multiplier. There's a great guide on converting this to SSE available here.

Big thanks to AlanovichRomanov for his help with this, and his awesome mod, Draugr Upgrades and Improvements which he was gracious enough to let me borrow from! If you want more interesting and challenging Draugr, I highly recommend his mod!
