About this mod

New textures and high ploy meshes for geologic diversity in Skyrim. Blended textures, ambient occlusion layered into diffuse, BC7 compression 8k/8k, meshes parallax flagged and pathed to new texture files for increased variety, glow enabled mesh and glow maps (see details below). 4K/4K versions available. Optional textures provided (see pics).

Welcome to Quarantined Mountains!

Vanilla mountains, cliffs, rock piles, rock cairns, and geologic formations overall in Skyrim consist of primarily two textures.  Quarantined Mountains provides five (5) distinct texture files by supplying meshes with texture paths without the need for a plugin.

High poly meshes with parallax shader and displacement map paths provided.  USSEP mesh edits carried forward in applicable meshes.  Glow enabled meshes and maps included for the evil rock cairns.    

What this mod does:

  • Instead of two (2) textures covering mountains, cliffs, rocks, rock piles, rock cairns, and other geological formations, you now get five (5).
  • Many rocks in rivers, cities, tundra rocks, rock cairns, evil rock cairns, and other random rocks have their own distinct look.
  • Primary textures are multi-texture blends giving a unique feel with good variety in game.
  • Fully parallax enabled meshes and textures and ready (though parallax isn't required to use).
  • Glow mesh enabled evil rock cairns with Thuum (Dragon script) that subtly glows red in the dark. 
  • For LOD use HD LODs Textures SE for LOD (color pallet is very similar to both main mod files and LOD quality is very good)

Many of the meshes (all the ones that didn't stretch textures at least) are high poly.


Compatibility & Installation:


Simply download and install with your favorite mod manager or unpack and place into your game's data folder.  This mod contains no plugin and doesn't require any plugin to function.  This mod will show conflicts with SMIM - LET THIS MOD OVERWRITE.  SMIM meshes are already included in this mod and allowing SMIM to overwrite will destroy the texture paths and parallax functionality in this mod.  Don't let anything overwrite the meshes in this mod.

-Not compatible with Majestic Mountains (though I might make a compatible version if enough people request one).

-Compatible with 3D rocks, just put 3D rocks above (higher) in your load order so that this mod overwrites its meshes.  

-Generally compatible with everything except Majestic Mountains so long as you don't let anything overwrite its meshes.  Even if something does overwrite meshes in this mod it won't break your game, you just won't get the full benefits of this mod.

-I will update this mod with LODs at a later date.  They are currently in WIP.  I will add a third texture option (Sun Baked Shale) when I upload my Solitude overhaul in the coming weeks.

All the texture maps utilized in this mod were procured by me from commercial sources.  All meshes are edited versions of Bethesda's Skyrim Special Edition game meshes except for those specified above which were also edited by me.
