Lore wise, I could see it as Molag Bal bestowing the Mace to Harkon after his shrine in Markarth was destroyed (as in House of Horrors Quest Expansion).
I was coming here to look for clarification on this actually> I have the House of Horrors quest expansion but for collector's purposes still wanted to get a hold of that blasted mace so i can lock it up in a vault somewhere so I wanted to find out if this mod would play nice alongside the quest expansion so I could complete it thru alternate means and still eventually secure that mace to lock up.
Hello Featherstone.. This was linked on an expansion mod, so came to ask, if the mace is on lord harkons ashes, do you still get to loot harkons sword as well ?
I may have to add this in, i mainly grabbed the namira ring and ebony mail for my new load order as i generally don't consider my character that sort of "evil" but more of a chaotic good/chaotic neutral type but I always had this little part of me that was amused when doing the quest for the Mace in the past, probably my inherent slightly twisted sense of humor. At the very least this is deserving of an endorsement even if I find some way to convince myself to "talk" that man into submission to claim the mace at the end by saying they were definitely someone that needed to be "dealt" with.
Thanks for making this and the other Lootable mods as well as your home improvements set of mods!
Not having all of the Daedric artifacts has been driving me a bit bonkers, but my character would never do this quest, so the mace's absence has just been quietly bugging me all this time... I killed Harkon about fifteen levels ago but I guess now it's time to go inspect his ashes haha.
Edit: So, couldn't find the ashes any more (guess the game eventually cleared them up, surprisingly); so I just spawned in the mace and fished it out of Harkon's creepy cathedral blood fountain haha, thanks for pointing me towards a lore-friendly way to RP this quest.
My save was a long while ago, so I wouldn't exactly like to go back to it. Thankfully I ran back to the castle after beating DG and the mace is on him.
Great idea! Ties in with what Serana reveals about how her family became vampires. Instead of making a patch for both this and "Babes of Skyrim", I used xEdit to incorporate the mace in an alternate version "Babes of Skyrim". Thank you.
Nods. Works the same. Patches are the way to go when you want to publish it (or want to keep it safe for future updates), but just adding it to your version of the character does the job.
I haven't tried but it should work. All it does is adding the Mace to Lord Harkon's equipment, so you can use any trick to stay out of the accursed house (I use Epic Restoration by the way).
probably beyond the scope of what you've done so far, and there are most likely already mods that cover this, but a way to get all the goodies from the dark brotherhood after destroying it would be nice. Think there's a sword on the emperors boat, the wedding dress, and I'm sure a couple other items I'm forgetting.
I didn't even know about the items but I downloaded Penitus Oculatus as soon as I saw it! Destroying the DB was the "righteous but underwhelming" option, with this you have an alternative guilt with its own quests and things to do.

I'm Starting a LOTD playthrough, but With Serana dialogue Add on, and I don't want to put the poor kid through House of Horrors if I can help it.
