have a question probably or most likely unrelated to this mod. but it is in the same category so wonder if someone else had experience.
during initial character creation screen, i get both the vr mouse red laser and the steamvr blue mouse pointer. I did use the optional quick start mod to skip to the end of the helgen cave.
whenever I try and click on something in the settings, for example enabling general subtitles, it will not select when i use the trigger or any other button. any ideas how to fix? edit: using a keyboard out of vr works, just have to use enter. but still cant find a way to do it in game
I don't recommend using the mouse on those game settings pages. Those are a little problematic. They work for me without issues but not everyone for some reason. Pointing the mouse outside the menu and using regular thumbstick movement is recommended.
Morning Shizof! Love the update for this little mod. I do not think this mod gets as much recognition as it probably should for making life easier in VR, so thank you.
Question- Is there a way I can change the angle of the laser beam? I ask because when i tell NPCs to do something the beam, like "sit on that chair over there" (default) points straight out from my fingertips parallel to the fingers. I notice in the menu when using this mod the beam is angled upwards by a good bit. What I am thinking is to make the beam point at the same straight angle as it does in default NPC command interactions... assuming I can find the proper thing to change.
Angle of the beam is handled by the game itself. I just make it visible. Changing laser beam's rotation manually would make it not point at the cursor position. So maybe you can look for an ini setting that would change them all or something. I looked around, but couldn't find anything.
Was there an update to SkyUI VR that I missed? i notice now if i talk to a vendor, when the inventory window pops up, it is telling me there is some kind of error (it still works, just pops up the error). I do not think i got my SkyUI VR from nexus, and I have had it a long while now, so I am not current with any possible changes that may have come about.
This is happening on the latest version of menu mouse fix. 1.6.0
I'll have to log in again and see if I can get a screenshot of it. It happened yesterday, but I was pretty busy and forgot to comment then.
Are there any caveats to updating the SkyUI VR? Safe to do midgame with a bunch of MCM mods already installed? I think that and SKSE are like the two elements I have not messed with, since I started playing Skyrim VR in the beginning.

There shouldn't be any issues as long as you don't change the load order.
Sounds like a plan to me. Ok I know what is next on my agenda then. Thanks Shizof! I think I still need to update ostim and ostim vr too, but i will tackle that afterwards.
The clickable quantity bar, saves a lot of time when dropping off a few hundred of my thousand or so arrows! The "little things" also make a big difference.
The laser pointer is really effective for ease of use. Thank you for the update to this and your other mods that help turn this into a true VR game.
One very minor issue, you may have seen already: after the first game load, the laser pointer did not appear in the quest menu and the mouse pointer did not move. Only after I opened the inventory Items menu, and then went back to the Quest menu did the laser appear and the mouse move. Apparently an initialization issue.
I have tried to reproduce your issue, but I couldn't. Can you give any other details? Is this something that happens all the time?
Mouse not working the first time Journal menu opened was one of the issues I encountered and fixed before 1.6.0 update. So if you have the latest version, it shouldn't happen anymore. Because when the Journal menu is first opened, it's closed and reopened again automatically to prevent the bug.
But giving more details to me may help reproducing it. How do you open the Journal menu? Do you use controllers directly or through Spell Wheel VR Journal Menu orb? I have tried both myself. Where are you in the game? Interiors/Exteriors etc.?
If you can reproduce the bug all the time, would you be willing to test a beta version to see if it would fix your issue?
I've tried again. I must have accessed via map then journal (quest 3 controller x button) for the issue I saw once. I see this method never supports the pointer nor mouse. Mouse pointer is on screen, unmovable, which caught my attention.
Is this way of accessing not supported?
I've checked the installed files which are correct. Dated 15th October 24, came from "Menu Mouse Fix-33414-1-6-0-1729028626"
When map menu is open, mouse is not enabled. This is intentional to prevent issues because mouse cursor is not working there for some reason. I may revisit that later to see if I can do something about MapMenu + Journal Menu combination, but it doesn't really look good. Seems like something you have to live with.
Let me know if you have any other issue with mouse or laser in the future.
Thank you for your super fast response! This, given the general benefit, is easy to put up with. If the mouse pointer was not visible here, would not have thought there was an issue.
Hi Shizof, been a while but I did some digging around CommonLibVR and found MapMenu.h which includes "RE/B/BSTSmartPointer.h". It's used for the moveHandler, lookHandler and zoomHandler. I have absolutely no idea if this is a Skyrim VR thing - do you think this could be what handles the laser pointer?
Oh okay gotcha. It'd help if I had any idea what I was looking at, lol. It's possible it's controlled somewhere unrelated to the map at all, or that it might not even be RE'd.
Yeah. That laser pointer is activated in two places in the game afaik. One is map, the other is favor state while commanding a follower to do something.
Ok, I think I found where it's getting activated. I'll hook that and try to see if I can make it visible other times.
Success! See the screenshots.
Laser pointer added in version 1.5.0.
If you also want to make the cursor invisible, some kind of update is probably needed in the menu files. I will look into it to see if there is a way to do it with code later though tomorrow.
I first found the laser is UIPointerNode. I found the function that updates it. After that I hooked the function call in it that checks if the map menu is open or not and returned true if menus with mouse are open as well.
Thanks! I've just started looking into skse plugins and it's a shame that it uses c++ because I've always coded in Java, so lots of small things I'm not familiar with. It's also pretty difficult navigating addresses when all resources online pertain to sse/ae.
Feel free to check out the source of my mods. I always upload them on the mod pages as ready to build solutions to help beginners. You can build it immediately after extracting and running it with Visual Studio 2019 with Release selected.
I second, if possible, you know how you use the mouse to hover and select the skills on flat. Stick drift sucks, it takes me 5 minutes to get to 1 perk up left.
I installed this on a fresh install w the requirements and didn't get the cursor in game and then tried it within the Diabolist vr 6.0 modpack off of wabbajack and still can't see it is there something im missing?
Make sure the mod is installed and active in your mod list. Also check your sksevr.log to make sure it's loading correctly. Post your sksevr.log with controlc.com or pastebin.com so I can check as well.

One question though - is it possible to change the laser color somehow or could it be added in the future?

You should update to the latest from nexus then. You are not supposed to get any errors from SkyUI-VR.
Not related to this mod anyway.

Once again, thank you for this really useful mod.
Thanks for reminding me though. I'll see if I can find the actual lasers to turn them on.
Success! See the screenshots.
