About this mod

An English translation of Vicn's mod Hunter's Essence.

Unlike Vicn's GLENMORIL and VIGILANT, Hunter's Essence is a very small gameplay mod. It adds Bloodborne inspired runes that you can use as a sort of easily replacable enchantment. In addition to this, there are also 8 Aedric and 17 Daedric covenants which add even more effects.

The mod is intended as a small addon for GLENMORIL, but can be used without it as well. And while it wasn't exactly unplayable in its machine translated state, it's still nicer to have proper translation, no?

As you probably already know from VIGILANT and GLENMORIL translation, I (still) don't actually speak Japanese. Don't let that scare you, though. There was very little to translate here, so I didn't even have to swear at Google Translate and other similar tools for being stupid. But if you still need to be convinced, here is what this translation took:

VERY OLD DESCRIPTION ALERT
Spoiler:
Show

  • running the entire mod through Google Translate again
  • comparing both machine translated versions of the mod
  • rewriting everything to make sense for humans
  • NOT swearing at the languages and translating tools
  • forgetting about this project for months due to work and real life until some people actually asked me about it (thank you, seriously - if you hadn't, this would have never seen the day)
  • finishing master thesis (freaking finally)
  • getting stuck on the second book of Mark Lawrence's Red Queen's War trilogy (Jalan may be a better person than Jorg but that's really not a high bar to reach)
  • starting to gripe about the heat and constant storms and hail the size of tennis balls (if it's like that in June already, what are July and August going to be like?!)
  • finally watching Infinity War ... no, Marvel, I'm not mad AT ALL
  • rewatching Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood for consolation (consolation ... FMA:B ... ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ... ha)
  • checking whether GLENMORIL got updated every few days
  • realizing I don't have a clue how my classic Skyrim looks like anymore since I switched to SSE completely
  • testing translation and being surprised that my classic Skyrim still looks and runs fairly well
  • finding a bunch of stupidities like missing punctuation and fixing it
  • finally wrapping it all up
  • spending way too long to write this description
  • ...

Well, you get the idea now.

I hope you will give my translation a try. And if you find any mistakes or have an idea how to translate something in a better way, please tell me. Especially if you actually speak Japanese, unlike me. Though considering how small the original mod is, I don't expect many corrections.

Q: Do you have permission for this?
A: Vicn gave his permission to anyone to translate his mods, so yes, I do.

Q: So, what is actually translated?
A: ... Everything there is in the mod. Really.

Q: I found a mistake in translation.
A: Great, tell me where and your suggestion on how to fix it and I'll gladly correct it for the next update.

Q: I found a bug with the runes!
A: Tell Vicn on the original mod page. I'm a translator and can't help you here at all.

Q: So where in Oblivion do I find those runes?
A: You craft them. There are two new crafting stations (Soul Gem Melting Furnace and Book of Runes) in Farengar's quarters in Dragonsreach, Whiterun. First you need to craft Arcane Jelly at the Melting Furnace and then you make the runes with the Book of Runes.
