Changelog:

1.0
Released

1.2
Added 1H version of the axe, can be forged at any forge with Ebony smithing perk after defeating Kratos, using the 2H version. You can switch between the two.

Both versions of the axe can now be tempered.

The Kratos boss now has less max health but heals for more when enraged and takes less damage.

The Kratos follower now takes less damage when enraged and regenerates health more quickly, but entering bleedout will now instantly end the rage (so he can't get up and start pounding right away)

Fixed dirty edits that caused the mod to sometimes overwrite Jenassa's face.

Kratos now no longer has a custom race. Just a nord now, so compatible with body replacers and the like.

1.2b

Fixed bug with 1H version not showing up. Fixed form type.

Introduction:

So I saw Ghosu's Leviathan Axe model a while back, and my immediate thought was "Damn, that looks cool" and "I wanna throw it at some nerds" but unfortunately that mod itself was just a resource and the axe wasn't functional ;_;

Like any self-respecting modder, I took it upon myself to fix that, and 48 hours later, here we are.

The Leviathan Axe:

The axe is fully functional. Like the Leviathan Axe in God of War, it can be used as both a ranged and a melee weapon. The base stats are similar to an ebony battleaxe, but with much less reach. It has an enchantment that deals frost damage and has a small chance to freeze enemies. But, if you power attack, the axe gets thrown out as a projectile, damaging enemies from range before boomeranging back to you. Forward power attacks send the axe spinning vertically, creating a frozen explosion where it lands that has a high chance to freeze targets hit, but also a longer recovery period before you regain the axe. Backward and sideways power attacks send the axe spinning horizontally, dealing damage to all enemies in a line instead of exploding, and returning much faster but with a much smaller chance to freeze. Standing power attacks do not throw the axe, and throwing the axe briefly reduces your stamina recovery, so you can't spam it quite as much as you'd like.

Specifically,

Leviathan Axe
21 Damage
19 Weight
Attacks deal 25 points frost damage and have a 6% chance to freeze units hit for 3 seconds. Forward Power attacks throw the Axe, causing it to explode in a 15 foot radius, dealing 60 frost and 60 physical damage with a 40% chance to freeze for 3 seconds. The axe returns after 2.5 seconds. Sideways and back power attacks throw the axe, dealing 40 frost and 40 physical damage to all enemies in a line and having a 25% chance to freeze. The axe returns after 1.5 seconds. All units hit by the flying axe or the explosion have a 40% chance to be briefly staggered, and have their armor reduced by 100 and frost resistance reduced by 25% for 15 seconds. Throwing the Leviathan Axe reduces your stamina regeneration by 50% for 5 seconds.

Use it from afar to attack enemies safely. Use it up close to freeze them. Use it to tack on extra damage to a normal power attack, or shred their defenses before you go ham. It's up to you. That is, if you can defeat...

Kratos:

This mod also adds a mini boss fight with Kratos, because what better way can you obtain the axe? What began as a simple buff dude quickly grew into a rather complicated fight, as much a core part of the mod as the Axe itself. Kratos is a peaceful fellow, he's set up a small camp up north to take care of himself and all he wants is to find a way back home to his wife's son. But if you pick a fight he will retaliate. In combat, he wields the Leviathan Axe. He'll swing with it and occasionally throw it, but mostly he's rather defensive. He's an exceptionally beefy fellow, too, with a phenomenal amount of health.

However, every time he's hit, Kratos will accumulate fury. The more fury he has, the greater the chance that on the next hit, he'll enter Rage - about 3% per hit. He'll let out a bellowing roar that staggers enemies nearby, heal for about 10% of his max health, and start to glow red. While enraged, Kratos puts away his axe and pulls out his fists, dealing devastating amounts of damage with his bare hands. He'll also start rapidly regenerating health and gain a large amount of movement speed, to chase down anyone trying to avoid his fists. However, he'll be more reckless, less defensive - and take double damage from all sources. Getting Kratos to enter Rage will be highly dangerous, but might also be the best - if not only - way to defeat him.

Upon being defeated, Kratos will get knocked down, and you'll earn his respect. You can now choose to either recruit him as a follower, or kill him for realsies. He'll lose several thousands of max health after the boss fight is over, but his rage ability is untouched, making him a quite potent companion. Either way, now you'll have earned the Axe - and a good friend, or maybe a trophy.

You can find the Tattooed Man in a crevasse by Journeyman's Nook.

Future Plans:

This mod was a fun side project while I procrastinate on updating Arcanum because that mod is a goddamn time vampire. However, it has put an idea in my head, to create a mod that collects cool weapons from around the nexus and integrates them into the game with awesome effects and unique extra bosses. Similar to what I did for More Uniques in FO4, but better because its Skyrim and you can do more cool stuff and the game isn't complete garbage I mean what do they eat man what do they eat where are the SPECIAL checks Todd give me SPECIAL checks and not this stupid Rust clone. But Curie is cute so maybe I'll go back.

Anyways, I've gotten permission from some mod authors already to use their models and give them cool powers and I can't wait to get started until that mod becomes too much of a time investment and I start working on something else.

This mod probably won't be updated, because any future updates would be another mod entirely, of which Mr. Dad of Boi and his fantastic boomerang stick are only a small part of. I'll take requests for any awesome weapon ideas, though. And if you're a modeler who wants to offer his cool assets for me to play with, be my guest. I'll make sure you're well taken care of.
