Hi everyone. Having taken stock of everything in my life at the moment, I've decided to go on indefinite hiatus from Skyrim modding. I'm letting you all know so that you will understand that I won't be responding to any comments, bug reports, or messages for the foreseeable future. If you'd like to make a third party patch or translation of one of my mods, you may feel free to do so and release it.

I have appreciated all of the affection many of you have shown towards my work, and hope that many more will in the future.

    - Obs.

this is working perfectly, really appreciate it. if you can make an optional version that changes number of time required for visiting windhelm from 4 to like 8 would be great. maybe not too immersive but less I have to worry about visiting windhelm or it's dock or just maybe remove the docks from being counted as visiting windhelm mainly because it's a travel location to solstheim.
the reason is that I wanted to travel to solstheim  and ended up increasing the global number to 2 already just by visiting solstheim from windhelm docks and going back.

I believe you can adjust it by yourself, just open the script and turn all '4' into '8' or whatever you want. I'm not an expert in scripts, but it seems to me that such a small change shouldn't break anything.

You should list USSEP as a requirement, not just a recommendation. It's marked as a dependency in MO2.

Either way the dependency means I can't use this mod, since (among other things) USSEP intentionally crashes when it detects one of my core mods (BEES). Ah well.

I've done several Skyrim playthroughs, and she's always been dead. So, if I meet her before she's killed, it saves her? I tried to save her a few times when I first started playing the game, and this started the assumption that she was meant to die regardless. I will definitely give this a shot. Thank you.

Susanna still dies, this mod instead insures that you'll get to actually see her alive as an NPC before she's killed.

definitely met her several times before and never gotten this mod, or any like it. maybe Cutting Room Floor does something with her, has to be that or maybe just lucky? Kalilies NPCs changes her but only visually.

Does anyone know how to check the counter on Susanna and possibly the command to edit it back to 1 if I wanted to add this because I realized too late it had triggered. I have a save outside the city so hopefully it won't be too much to go through to fix it before entering the city and hopefully everything will be normal.

If I remember correctly, it is something like "GetEnteringWindhelmCount" when the console is open.

      it's actually
      `help MS11EnteringWindhelmCount 0`

figure I post it so people actually use the right command.
Also if you want to delay the quest from starting, do a
      set MS11EnteringWindhelmCount to 1
      or w.e number below 4

Dragonborn: "Ah, finally, I get to truly meet the lovely Susanna before her tragic fate."
    [Initiates dialogue]
    Susanna: "Go away."
    [Exits dialogue]
    Susanna: "You're useless as always."
Dragonborn: "As sick as The Butcher is, I'm starting to think Susanna had it coming..."

Can't complete with my current playthrough but downloading this to at least try and not get stuck "examine the crime scene" when everything else has been done. 1st and only time I'd gone to Windhelm was by paid transport. I enter the city she's dead after speaking to Ulfric Stormcloak.

Bethesda's lack of bothering to properly check it's mess in full display with this whole quest.

You should make it more clear that this mod isn't intended to fix Blood on the Ice. Unless it is. Hmmm. But after an hour of messing around to get the mission to start, I hesitantly uninstalled and added the BOTI redux and thankfully that worked quickly as intended. I thought this would be a mod that made me not have to do the door exit enter nonsense. (which takes minutes). Instead, it seems it is intended to spend 4 in game days? in Windhelm? I'm lost, but it doesn't matter. I fixed it and moved on. Also gave the other modder a nice review.

Just a bit of experimentation - I came cross country from Whiterun - never been outside of Whiterun Hold in this game so no chance of passing triggers
    - made a save just past the mill (Halfmoon?)
    1) Ran straight to Windhelm, but as a Khajiit was challenged, paid the bribe to get in - all ok, Susanna alive, was able to start BOTI Redux and save her. (arrived at Windhelm around 5pm)
    2) Instead, cleared Morvunskaar on the way in - then to Windhelm, Susanna dead - arrived around 10pm
    3) ran straight to Windhelm, but as a Khajiit was challenged and did not pay the bribe and was teleported back to the stables - with a bit stealth got in straight away and Susanna dead.
I suspect the zoning around Morvunskaar, and the teleporting in 3) counted as additional entering Windhelm counts = dead Susanna. I think "entering Windhelm" can be a lot further out than the road as previously I have had her dead after simply being to Kynesgrove to kill the dragon with Delphine.
This was NOT using this mod as I have found using the carriage to Windhelm and going straight in works.

If you simply never walk outside in Windhelm or anywhere close to the stables between 7pm and 7 am, she never dies. When I want to go to Windhlem, I fast travel to Kynesgrove, stay the night at the inn, and wait until 7 am and then ride over to the stables. I get my stuff done before 7 pm and leave. I've even stayed in Candlehearth hall overnight and she never dies as long as I stay inside until after 7 am. Just time your visits carefully and she never dies. When you show up between 7 pm and 7 am, the quest triggers. This quest is very buggy for me, so I've tested a lot of things to avoid triggering the quest. One time I used the console to complete the quest. In that playthrough, I used the console to get hjerim. That character lived in Herjim and hired Suzanna as his chef with the immersive recruitment mod. She lived in Herjim with the Shatter-shield girl. If popped in every few days to drop stuff off. If I stepped out between 7 pm and 7 am, she died even after I completed the quest in the console.

Can confirm that Suzanna only dies if you enter Windhelm between 7 AM and 7 AM (this is also on UESP). I was thrown off by a recent playthrough where Suzanna was still alive even after entering Windhelm multiple times. I was only entering Windhelm during the day though; it was only when I entered Windhelm in the evening where I could start Blood on the Ice.
