Is there a way to just use more lockpicks instead of getting the "You can not pick this lock at your current level." message?

Also, any chance of an MCM?

while it's not a fix, just a band-aid, i changed the main script of this mod a bit (by commenting out the part that displays the combat text message and aborts picking) so it skips the check for combat setting, effectively setting it to always true. so if that's what you want, put this in scripts/ folder and it should work regardless of combat or not.

Hey if youre still out here, could you send me the fix to this issue again if you still have it? The link in this page is no longer valid.

I really like this mod! Could you make an Ordinator compatibility patch?

From looking at Ordinator's lockpicking tree, I am inclined to say no. Ordinator only has two perks in the tree that make lockpicking easier, and I would rather not have to pick arbitrary perks to replace the missing ones. Technically, you could still use this mod with Ordinator, but you would probably want to set the chance granted by perks to 0 in that case. The Locksmith and Wax Key perks in Ordinator have probably not been altered, so I think they would work fine.

I know this is 5 years old but my question is are you saying that CPerk in the script should be set to 0?

The mod is great but require a pompt/auto animation to 'replace' the mini-game.
Or your character will instant lockpick any doors...The result is your character became a criminal(bounty + guard) while you just tried to open a door without knowing it was locked.

Very nice mod, removes an easy minigame that almost ignores character skill, and gives value to lockpicks again as you actually lose some of them :) Higher difficulty locks are a bit too easy for my subjective taste, so I'm experimenting with these settings (with auto success > 3 and < 0 auto failure):

0.20 Base (quite a lot tougher on lockpicking beginners, but having the perk matters more now; Locksmith even more so for late game skill XP grind)
    +.30 Perk
+.45 Locksmith (only available after Expert Locks is taken, sadly; having this after Apprentice Locks instead of Quick Hands would save on lockpicks)
    --.15 Harder
+.25 Easier (each tier you are above the lock matters now due to lower base chance, and being one tier below the lock breaks 4x as many lockpicks)
    1.00 Mult

A few requests if anyone ever picks it up for updating: MCM added in optionally, so we can tweak settings from Skyrim Unbound (Reborn) before starting game, and thus remove the configuration power, maybe even with PapyrusUtil support for settings.json import/export between saves.

Tie XP rewards closer to vanilla success and break XP so Skyrim Skill Uncapper and such are compatible, and make Lockpicking skill a linearly interpolated bonus to success chance, so having i.e. 24 skill instead of 15 makes a difference (currently you MUST reach 25 skill for a bonus I think).

So the option to change the "combat" setting from "false" to "true" doesn't work. When you exit the menu it will just reset back to "false" :P

I found an odd bug with this mod. Things seemed to working great at first and I really liked skipping the mini-game, but certain locks seem to trigger bounties. For example, during the game intro I picked one of the cell doors in the hallway just beyond the torture room and saw a message that said my bounty increased by 25 in The Pale.

I uninstalled the mod and no longer saw the bounty message. I am not using any other mods related to lock picking.

I had a hard time to decide if I wanted a lockpicking mod that made it easier (always succesful), perk based (needed certain perks to pick locks above Novice) or RNG skill based. In the end I choose this one. The mod worked really well and I no longer ran around picking master lock on a new toon with only 5 picks.

But when I got a bit further in and began to do a few npc based quest I ran into a major mod conflict with "Simply Knock". What this mod does is adding the ability to Knock, leaver or lockpick a locked owned doors though a menu. Now the problem is that with "Seamless" mode it does the lockpicking attempt as soon you interact with the door (and gives you a bounty if seen) and in "Menu" mode override the menu from Simply Knock. Which in the end means both modes nullifies the purpose of the other mod.

Don't know if it's something you will look on in the future, so it might be compatible with mods like Simply knock. Else I loved this mod, but sadly have to disable it.

Excellent mod! Was wondering if it worked with the Unbreakable perk and Skeleton Key, but after some quick testing, I found it works as desired: failure to pick the lock removes neither lockpicks nor the key.
