The Xbox versions of the mod have janky meshes that cause a floating blood splashes on the blade

    I'm having a problem
so basically, all the NPCs who SHOULD have a cutlass instead have iron daggers, for example, Deja just had an iron dagger and Jaree had an iron dagger and the same went with Blood Horkers and Marauders and other pirate bandits ect ect
Please help and thanks in advance.

You have a mod conflict in your load order. Only way to know what it is to load up SSEDIT and see.

      Cutlasses are a *little* curved!

In all seriousness I made this as a companion to a tweak in working on that distributes Wares of Tamriel items around the province. Well now Alik'r Warriors use Hammerfell Iron Weapons instead of Scimitars, the only NPCs with the Scimitars were Corsairs and Velehk Sain. So I thought since pirates were the only ones with the vanilla Scimitar I might as well replace it with a Cutlass.

I might look into making a standalone version that distributes a completely new Cutlass weapon to Corsairs and Vehlak Sain so the Vanilla Simitar would stay in the game. I'd have to figure it out though, I'm still very new to modding.

To be honest, the guard's reaction to "curved swords" is really strange anyway. Curved swords were never like a particularly unique invention, and would not have been exotic to most people. Hell, it's not even an alien concept to the people of Skyrim, as their Ebony swords are curved. People of all sorts of civilisations used a wide variety of swords depending on their preferences. Ironically, the stereotypical depiction of Scimitars we see in media (like Skyrim, as well as Disney's Aladdin and the 1991 Robin Hood Film) with the broad blade and exaggerated curve, is not a Scimitar, and not even a Middle Eastern style sword. It's a type of Cusped Falchion. Below, you can see a depiction of such a weapon being wielded by knights and men-at-arms...

That's not a very nice way to ask. It's also very easy to do yourself.

If I'm not mistaken, the pirates in Skyrim use Hammerfell scimitars because most of the pirate activity in Tamriel originates from southern Hammerfell and Stros M'kai. Mods still cool though for a change.

anyone know if it matters that the 1st person cutlass static record says "meshes\weapons\cutlass\1stpersoncutlass.nif" instead of "weapons\cutlass\1stpersoncutlass.nif"

btw the normals on the new sabre are a little messed up. i would suggest opening it in nifskope, right click the sabre in the render window, Mesh > Update Tangent Space. could do the same to the sheath.

Could you please add a version with a short sheath that's just holding the sword but not covering it completely?

A Great Mod with a lot of Potential

A Suggestion as a Sword enthusiast myself i have quite an experience with this type of swords
and after taking a look at your model it has come to my attention that the handle on your cutlass is made from the wrong material when compared to the actual cutlasses wielded by pirates in the medieval days

This type of cutlass were actually used by officers of the British & French navy

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cutlass

The once used by pirates were more crude with cheap handle made from leather

    Something Like this here:

Thanks for this beautiful mod, I wont be playing Skyrim Se without this mod,

("Batheshda needs to hire people like you in their team")

I mean a pirate welding a scimitar LOL must be an middle eastern pirate

      Hey thanks for the suggestions!

Unfortunately I'm not a modeller, I got this model as a modder's resource. I made this mod as a companion to my Beyond Skyrim in Skyrim mod, that mod largely replacers Scimitars with the Hammerfell Iron Sword from Wares of Tamriel. The only NPCs still with Scimitars were the Corsairs and I thought it would make sense to just replace the Vanilla Scimitar with a Cutlass.

*However* I've been working with my buddy who knows Blender, so I may see if we can get a completely custom model made for this mod. Stay tuned :)
