What is this mod?
This is one of the few little mods and experiments I come up with while playing the game that is polished enough to the point where it won't break horribly if you use it wrong, which means I get to upload it to the Nexus! I wanted to be able to toggle the Nightingale Hood's mask, but I didn't want two separate items clogging up my inventory. Plus, if there's something I hate more than inventory management, it's managing a billion hotkeys (It's only just the two, but you get the point.) So I made a script to do it for me.

For M A X I M U M  E A S E I'd absolutely recommend using this with Better Message Box Controls. Why the hell aren't you using it already, anyway? Go download it now, screw this mod.

How does it work?
When you equip the hood, you'll get a message box asking whether or not you want to equip the mask. When you unequip it, the mask will go as well. If you hotkey it and unequip it outside of a menu, you get the additional option to equip/unequip the mask. NPCs will always equip the mask by default. Cool, eh?

Compatibility
This mod edits the meshes and the Armor forms of every leveled version of the Nightingale Hood and sets them to use a different Armor Addon form in the Creation Kit.

This means it will work with the following types of mods:
- Texture replacers
- Enchantment replacers that edit the Enchantment forms in the Creation Kit

However, it will not work with:
- Mesh replacers
- Mods that add new hoods
- Mods that change the stats of the existing hoods
- Enchantment replacers that set the hoods to use a different Enchantment form instead of editing the existing ones.

It doesn't mess with the unplayable versions of the hood or the vanilla meshes, so Brynjolf and Karliah should have the normal thing with the mask built in and any mods that change these should work as normal.

It's not working for me!
  • If you already have the Nightingale Hood with you when you install this, PLEASE drop it and pick it up after installing. It will not work otherwise.
  • There may be some jank depending on your FPS and Papyrus speed if you equip and unequip it REALLY fast, but the worst that can happen is the message box not popping up and you end up with just the hood and no mask. As far as I've tested the mask should never get stuck on you or any character. If it does, feel free to leave a strongly worded bug report and I'll look into it.
