Would it be possible to get some kind of dummy ESP or something for the mod, so it can take priority over other mods? I tend to use alot of texture replacer mods and the like, of which most of the ones which retexture or alter weapons will cover almost all the weapons at once as opposed to just doing swords or bows or so on. Unfortunately, this one is constantly getting overridden, so these super sweet bows are constantly being replaced with vanilla ones. If it had an ESP or ESL i could just put it lower on the load order to override the others.
If you use Mod Organizer, you can just move this mod further down in the left pane, until it takes priority over other mods that would overwrite it. Same applies for any texture replacers. Heck, you can even right click -> send to -> last / first conflict. Alternatively, you can hide conflicting files from other mods, so that they don't override this one.
I usually urge everyone to use Mod Organizer 2, as well. If not for this mod, then do it for any other conflict-prone setup you could have. The change might take some time and MO2 may be difficult getting used to at first but it's well worth the time and effort.
Extremely late to this but i found a solution in case someone is having the same problem, Vortex allows you to manage also file conflicts for mods with no active plugin such as this one, the difference is that you manage them from the mods tab instead of the plugins one (at the left panel), more info here: https://forums.nexusmods.com/topic/10412368-why-does-nobody-talk-about-mods-that-have-no-plugin-in-load-order/ Basically, just click on the options drop-down menu, click on manage file conflicts, and then it shows the affected meshes/textures by the mod and will display which mod is currently taking over them, in my case, it was Cathedral Armory getting priority over Real Bows, you can then chose which mod will overwrite the game's assets (Daedric, Elven, etc), it's really simple
Having some trouble, the Elven bow isn't getting replaced in-game. No idea what I'm doing wrong, the rest of the replacers work fine and it's at the bottom of MO2 so it should be overwriting any other mods that change bows, right?
Screenshot to show that it's seemingly only the elven bow affected rn.
Also, does anyone know of any replacers for the Nightingale bow like this? I like using it, but it's so damn ugly EDIT: copied the ebony bow over to the Nightingale on my own, much better!
I checked my mod folders to see, but the only other mod that affects the bow meshes is this, which claims to use Real Bows's meshes anyhow. Here's my load order if there's anything I've missed, which wouldn't be surprising if I did honestly.
Thanks so much for this! I had played Skyrim for about a year with no issues, and then I got into archery IRL, and I soon realized that all the vanilla bows would be entirely non-functional. The only bow in this mod I've encountered so far that looks like it also wouldn't function is the Dwemer bow. other than that, brilliant. Endorsed!
I hate to necro a post but the Dwemer bow has real life counterparts in the form of takedowns. I've seen and handled one, myself. They work surprisingly well if the bolts holding the limbs aren't flimsy and the limbs are of a sturdy material (usually a laminate--this can be achieved with sinew or rawhide backing). The angling is also reminiscent of many compound bows, so it's mimicking advanced tech.
The mod itself is a breath of fresh air to this bowyer. Those vanilla bows are just an eyesore. Not a single one could actually do anything unless you slapped someone across the head with it.
I hope a link and picture are all right to show that this thing actually exists! Let me know if it is otherwise unwanted! This is a Martin Archery Saber Takedown Recurve Bow
Thank you Lycantis for the information! The more I hear/read about real-life archery the more complex, yet intriguing the whole subject seems. I should really look into it more. I appreciate your input. :)
Archery in real life is so much better than in games, lol. Thanks for the Mod. I'm testing this and other mods to see what I can grab from them. It makes the game so much more immersive than the vanilla....uh...those things might as well just be clubs or plain staves because they wouldn't actually do anything as a real bow. >_<
For the unique bows I've always managed to find good-looking bows on here and taken the models and textures, named them to which vanilla bow I wanted to replace and put them in the respective folder. There are so many great-looking works here that it really never felt necessary for me to learn how to make models/textures myself.
Sorry for the late response. You's have to find out the name and folder of the Nightingale bow and then just copy and name the file for the mesh you want to use to that. I unfortunately don't know that names. You can try looking at the meshes BSA inside the Data folder with BAE - Bethesda Archive Extractor

Definitely no need for a plugin here.

What other mods are you using?
Glad to hear you like it. :)
