The SKSE version is irrelevant. I run it with 2.0.17 SKSE build.
You can have as many Main Menu Wallpapers as you wish, just like in Oldrim. The A, B, C... folders are just templates, you can erase them all and make your own folders, name them as you like. Just don't use spaces in the folder name, or the dll will not read that folder. I will avoid special characters as well. Letters and numbers (again, without spaces) will do fine.
You can also add different music for each menu. I currently have 100 music tracks with 200 main menus.
Animated wallpapers don't work.
Just make sure to have the correct folder structure. The content of data your folder should look like this...
MainMenuWallpapers\... Meshes\Interface\Logo\logo.nif (the standard logo mesh, just don't use the one from the animated menus) Music\Special\mus_maintheme.xwm (any random music track, just rename it like this) SKSE\Plugins\rmm_plugin.dll Textures\Interface\Objects\mainmenuwallpaper.dds (any random picture 2048x2048)
You need to have this folder structure and these files, otherwise the plugin doesn't know what to load.
And in MainMenuWallpapers folder you put your custom main menus and music tracks, as i said, as many as you like. Just make sure to respect the folder structure... just like in these presets.
Flawless. I now have 250+ random screens loading on the main menu!
Essentially, I combined the original works from the oldrim mod with all the downloads from this mod into a single file (renaming all 27 folders from each DL with a prefix of what they were [example - Anniversary Edition, file "A" became "AEA", file "B" became "AEB", etc] using a free bulk file rename utility). Doing this gave each set of folders a unique naming structure. Instead of manually installing it directly into the data folder, I did this all offline (in my downloads folder) , then zipped it and gave it new name, imported the whole thing into MO2, and activated like any other mod.
Combined with the fog remover, starting logo removals, adding snowfall, and my custom music... I'll have random screens forever and day!
Only just installed this but from reading the description I don't think it's meant to be a music randomiser? I think it attaches specific tunes to loading screen pictures.
These are amazing, thank you. Could you upload a combined version with 1 of each wallpaper? I'm assuming if I download everything as is there'd be some overlap
@AlisaLara Hi, thanks for this beautiful mod. I have a request if you don't mind : Is it possible we can have a version that combines ALL your presets (Or also even the original main menu wallpapers too ) ? I love them all so I really don't want to choose, LOL TIA !
You just copy and paste your favorite picture into the folder under "mainmenuwallpaper" main menu. For example, you like picture A from folder A then you copy that picture to transfer into the same folder A but in the Skyrim, Data, mainmenuwallpaper directory. You can view and edit picture through using paint.net app.
So we only can have one picture per folder, right ? That means in total we only can have 27 pictures in the end ( A ---> Z and 1 DLC folder ). What I'm asking you are that possible to install ALL pictures presets at one, so we can bypass that "27 limit pictures" ....
Actually, I used the old version on LE for years together with VictoriaG_s backgrounds... and you aren't limited to the "A", "B", "C" folders, you can name them whatever you want. There isn't really any limit here. The only thing that matters is, that the folder structure within the mainmenuwallpapers folder is intact (means: every background needs it's own folder and there have to be a data folder insider... and inside of that there needs to be the meshes and the textures folders). I'm fairly sure, with the SSE port of the rmm_plugin.dll (thanks to whoever ported this, I actually missed it) there is no change in that regard. So: no limit... just name the folders a1, b27 or whatever you want. It will probably work - because it did in LE for years on my machine with about 120 wallpaper images. :)
However... there is one catch here... the original main menu wallpaper replacer mod from oldrim includes a modified startmenu.swf... this means, no more creation club news (yeah!) but also no more Mod- or Creation Club menu entries within the main menu. So, as thankful I am for the port of the DLL, until someone also updates at least the SWF file from oldrim to it's SSE counterpart, I just can't use it.
But enough of this, because it is not really the problem of this mod itself... and I have to say, I actually love the pictures AlisaLara has included here! I already use your loading screens and I hopefully will be able to use the main menu replacer at some point. Great work!
In MO2 just right-click the oldrim mod from the first step and open the folder "in explorer." Now open the mod from this page in another window. You'll see the folder names match exactly. Just overwrite everything with the same name when you drag and drop - replacing the oldrim files, with the new SSE files from this mod.
Wow, actually works. I had been using this mod for the short time I was playing oldrim actually, and when I initially changed to SSE I was so upset I couldn't use this anymore. Thanks so much.
