About this mod

Cities of the North Dawnstar is an architecture overhaul with a great longhouse concept. Inncredible is a wonderful overhaul, but non-modular. Together they created monstrous babies. I have corrected this.

I have completed a patch for Inncredible 1.3.1 and Cities Of The North - Dawnstar 1.1-Please endorse if it helps you~
=^_______^=

I made two versions.

I will delineate here details for the curious and give my thoughts on the patch. There is a TL;DR, installation instruction and recommended load order at the bottom if you want to skip this part. <3

Many of us Skyrim modders have viewed Inncredible as an essential mod for many years. It's not often we have to decide between Inncredible and a city overhaul because the author was brilliant enough to not cover any major cities, which have been overhauled often enough to give us all options and flavors on what sorts of cities we want in our games.

It stands to reason that you may already have gotten to the point past modding larger citystates and you're now somewhere between having the smaller cities overhauled already or you are testing better overhauls for them currently. Either way, when you install Cities of the North-on its own or patched into other city overhauls-you probably love every minute of the awesome new longhouse style houses... until you enter the Inn, that is... ;<

It's highly likely everyone here already knows what Cities of the North - Dawnstar is - an ambitious project based around giving Dawnstar unique architecture. In light of this, I didn't want to just restore the Inncredible interior because it wouldn't match the updated outside of the building, so I carefully removed a lot of overlapping content and mixed in the more important Inncredible decorations: we've got the Inncredible scale models and the note regarding them poked onto the bar for instance, since those were little Inncredible easter eggs~ I shifted in a few Inncredible snacks and re-placed the dresser that would have been in the way of the stairs, took the Inncredible upper floor bedroom with a double bed and built it in(severely rearranged and with a few other Inncredible details included), right above the three COTN Inn beds; and I have fully navmeshed the stairs and little upper loft in that side room so they should(confirmed, screenshots) peer out over the balcony correctly, and use the cooking pot and chairs~ ^________^

I also took two small liberties that are included in all versions: the first is that there are three Dawnstar banners hung in the one three-bedroom rentalbed zone of the inn. A hostel is not an unrealistic inn but since it's not the standard for Skyrim I thought there should be a bit of privacy available. This was opposing my desire to respect the design of the author and not actually change any room's shape. I settled on using one row of curtains to split it into a one-bed room inside the door and a two-bed room behind the curtain. Please tell me if the curtain is too much and you'd like a version that's just the open room as in the original COTN inn(although technically you can just disable or markfordelete it if you like, I do recognize that some people are not comfortable using console commands.).

The second liberty I took is that I added bunk beds in the kitchen corner because there wasn't any staff living area. The beds aren't useable for the player but if there's a time the staff are programmed to sleep, they SHOULD use the beds, because the beds are pathed as their own. The reason you don't see a "Sleep Bed(Owned)" dialogue is because the orc beds are static, so I've set up the type of triggers that are meant to be used as a bed on the ground and set ownership so that it wouldn't end up used by random NPCs.

We also have an alternate version, version 2, for people who really liked the Inncredible decorations(like me!) which includes a slightly shrunk down Canoe(the Inncredible version's central hanging decoration) hanging in the kitchen and the entire shrine poked into the corner(the kid sleeps in the back of it in that version). I also removed almost all Inncredible floors but I moved one piece of their tile to the kitchen to keep some of that flooring since it's a mashup and a tile kitchen clearly makes sense.

I feel like there will be plenty of people that just want the version of the Inn that comes in COTN without the shrine and boat-the larger Inncredible decorations-so I made sure to make both versions to cover the most of what people might want.

What exactly this file is is an edited ESP for COTN - Dawnstar version 1.1. This is of course ONLY the ESP and that means that you will CTD without the original Cities of the North mod fully installed before installing this file-preferably with your preferred mod manager-and allow it to overwrite the old ESP that comes with 1.1.  At this time I am happy with the fact that the mod author has said they've made all the patches they want to make and are moving on to making a different mod now, but I understand that there may be an update in the future and due to the structure of this patch it would require a new patch version. We will cross that bridge when we come to it.

I would rather have done an edited ESP of Inncredible only because Inncredible is an older mod more likely to be in its final form. Getting to use Inncredible as the base ESP base wasn't in the cards because of how the mods are built and how they interact based on which one is dominant, which meant I probably would have ended up taking my many hours of work and turning them into more days. I figured since it was taking me a while to get this patch put together, it would be mean to not release it for you guys... since I've pretty much lived the last several years in the CK, if it took me that long I suppose it would probably take way longer for most people.

Cheers with the patch, friends. The Skyrim modding community is my favorite set of people in the world.

TL;DR
-exact patch inclusions by version-

Version 1
Mostly just the COTN inn as it was before Inncredible mixing in messed it all up. This version DOES include minimal Inncredible bits-an upstairs bedroom in the sleeping area, a tile floor in the kitchen and the neat little scale models meant to be a hobby of the Innkeeper. I feel bad for the man because of how much he loved the wife he lost, so I didn't want to take away the hobby Inncredible gave him, I felt it'd be mean. The layout of the central hall of the inn is unchanged from the COTN main hall. *BOTH VERSIONS INCLUDE A NEW UNOBTRUSIVE BUNK BED FOR THE STAFF*

Version 2
This patch will carry over the two large decorations from the Inncredible version of the Inn. I use, and recommend, this version. Since COTN has a hanging decoration in the main hall already-bones-I did NOT replace this. I DID, however, take the central decoration from Inncredible, the hanging canoe, shrunk it down to a two-man canoe and hung it back up in the kitchen. I have also included the Dawnstar shrine build, built into the Inncredible lobby, placed similarly to the Inncredible location, which is the SouthWest corner of the lobby across from the entry door. Some of the furniture has been poked a bit along the walls to fit along with the Shrine, but I only removed I think a static nonusable barrel and a few baskets. It is still entirely immersive and well laid-out. In this version, the orphan kid sleeps in the back of the shrine instead of just in the corner of the Inn. *BOTH VERSIONS INCLUDE A NEW UNOBTRUSIVE BUNK BED FOR THE STAFF*

Load order for these-and then any other COTN patches-should be as such

(If you use JK's and Arthmoor's dawnstar, they go here:
-
JK's Skyrim.esp
-
Dawnstar.esp)

-
(if you use Populated Skyrim, Also packaged as "Populated Lands Roads Paths Legendary", "Populated HELL SKYRIM" etc, then it ABSOLUTELY MUST BE LOADED BEFORE COTN, NO EXCEPTIONS: I use PLRPL myself-
-
Populated Lands Roads Paths Legendary.esp)

-
(If you use Medieval Lanterns, it can go -EITHER ABOVE OR BENEATH COTN-, neither way seems to make a difference since there's very little overlap-I use above-:
-
Medieval Lanterns Skyrim.esp)

-
Then, remember to load Inncredible BEFORE COTN:
-
Inncredible.esp

-
COTN-Dawnstar.esp

-
(if you use any mixture of Arthmoor's, JK's, and Lanterns (or any other patches you may have-when in doubt put anything that needs to be patched with COTN higher than it in the load order, then COTN then the patches) these patches go last:
-
COTN Dawnstar - JK's Skyrim - Arthmoor's Dawnstar - Medieval Lanterns Patch.esp)

Since this patch overwrites the ESP for Cities of the North - Dawnstar, it will not take an extra slot in your load order nor do you have to figure out where to place it between other patches. Since it only affects the interior of the Inn, any patches you have for COTN that DO NOT TOUCH THE INN will be completely compatible.
