As much as Belethor wants to buy your drugs (and more importantly, sell them), there's a guard right outside his door 24/7 and the people who control the Skooma trade to think about to boot!

Skooma is Illicit keeps respectable (and semi-respectable) merchants from buying or selling Skooma and Moon Sugar. You'll still be able to get your fix or sell your drugs, but only from and to people you'd expect to be involved in Illicit trade.

This mod is super lightweight and doesn't introduce any new law enforcement mechanics (like in Morrowind where merchants wouldn't deal with you if you were carrying). It just makes it a lot more inconvenient to trade in Skooma.

Versions for CACO, Skooma Drug Effect and Intoxication included. Optional price changes (harder to buy/sell means it's more expensive) available.

Technically speaking, this mod:

  • Adds the VendorNoSale keyword to Skooma and Moon Sugar so general goods merchants won't buy or sell them.
  • Removes Moon Sugar from ingredient vendor lists so it doesn't pop up in apothecary shops.
  • Creates new illicit vendor and level lists usable by select merchants.
  • Does not affect non-merchant NPCs that deal in Skooma.
  • Gives bandits and thieves a chance to drop Skooma and Moon Sugar.
  • Does not affect Sleeping Tree Sap (it's legal).

It's all pretty straightforward with no script changes or additions. Should be fine to add or remove mid-game. Leveled and vendor list changes may take a few days to update depending on your settings.

Compatibility

Mods that change Skooma recipes will conflict as will mods that alter certain vendor lists, leveled lists and containers. Patching the conflicts manually in xEdit (for MLU, Containers and Leveled Lists Fixes - Complete Loot Overhaul, Scarcity, etc.) should be easy. Including it in a Bashed or Smashed patch should do the trick as well.

All versions require the Dawnguard and Dragonborn DLCs. CACO versions require the Hearthfires DLC, USSEP and Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul. SDE versions require Skooma Drug Effect. Intoxication version requires Intoxication.

Plugins for all versions are ESPFEs.

Compatibility with Lockpicks Are Illicit:

There is a synergy patch in the optional files section of Lockpicks Are Illicit that should be loaded after this mod and Lockpicks are Illicit to make them play nicely together. I’d merge all three into one plugin, but that’s just me.

Credits

Made with xEdit and a hefty assist from UESPWiki.

The Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul version builds on the brilliant work of kryptophyr and her team. The Skooma Drug Effect version uses johnwayne1930's Skooma ideas. Intoxication version uses formula from Ice885's Intoxication.
