About this mod

This mod changes how stats (health, magicka, stamina) are handled. Instead of being arbitrarily assigned at levelup, it is logically modified by the player's skills. This is a port from the Oldrim version, which has been out since 2013.

Alternate Stat System

  • What is it?

With the vanilla system, it is possible for a mage with maxed magic skills to only have 100 mana, which is rather silly. Instead of having your Health/Magicka/Stamina be determined by an often arbitrary decision on the level up interface, this mod causes these stats to be determined by the skills of the player. This is a port from the Oldrim version, which has been out since 2013.

You don't have to start a new game, it will work on an existing save.

  • How do skills influence stats?

All skills influences stats, just in different ways. Those who wear Heavy Armor will increase their strength and constitution. Those who are experts in lockpicking are very dexterous.

  • Strength? Dexterity? What?

As a middleman between H/M/S, all skills change 6 stats, which then go on to influence health, magicka, and stamina. These stats are Strength, Dexterity, Endurance, Intelligence, Willpower, and Personality. Stats like carry weight (customization via MCM menu), health regen rate, stamina regen rate, magicka regen rate, movement speed, and shout recovery are all influenced by these stats and will scale slowly throughout your progression through the game. These bonuses aren't overpowered (I don't want to powercreep) but it's definitely noticeable compared to a new character.

By default, carry weight = 250 + 1/2 * (average of Health + Stamina). The "250" and "1/2" can be modified via mcm menu.

Your health regen rate mult will go from 1 --> 1.10 (10% faster health regen). Strength is the primary stat for this. Constitution is the secondary.

Your stamina regen rate mult will go from 1 --> 1.15 (15% faster stamina regen). Dexterity is the primary stat for this. Constitution is the secondary.

Your magicka regen rate mult will go from 1 --> 1.20 (20% faster magicka regen). Intelligence is the primary stat for this. Wisdom is the secondary.

Your speed will go from 1 --> 1.1 (10% faster speed) and depends on Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution with Strength and Dex having the most influence.

Your shout recovery time will go from 1 --> 0.8 (20% faster shout recovery time) and depends on personality.

The magnitude of these values comes from vanilla enchantments/blessings. These values will scale accordingly if you use an uncapper and get skills above 100.

If you are curious with the math behind the mod, there's an Excel sheet in the downloads that you can tinker with.

  • Requirements

To use this mod, you MUST HAVE SKYUI (and thus SKSE). Why does it need SkyUI? Well the mod is enabled via MCM and you can customize the Mod via the MCM menu.

If you don’t like the mod then you can “uninstall it” via the MCM menu, which will stop this mod’s scripts from running and provide a cleaner save game once you uninstall. You can then use the console to reset your stats back to whatever you choose.

  • Compatibility & Issues

This mod is compatible with most mods. Uncapper, Skyre, Vokrii, Ordinator, Experience, SPERG etc. It is NOT compatible with other mods that do similar things with HMS. This includes SAAL.

Requiem will alter your starting skills and thus lower your initial health to ABYSMAL levels. I recommend modifying the Min Stat to 90-100 and the slope to 5. This should make the early game bearable while not changing the late game.

There is one issue, I cannot disable the “You have leveled up! Choose an attribute!” on the skill page when you go and distribute your perk points. Whatever stat you pick on that page gets canceled out by this mod as you run around. There's a mod called SAAL that uses an edited flash file that disables part of the message, but it still tells you that you are increasing a stat. Whatever stat you pick on that page will get nullified by the script so it's not a big deal.

On game reload, it'll display you having 0 stamina for a quarter of a second. I don't know why it does it but it fixes itself literally as soon as you notice it.
