About this mod

This set of string files will make the text of all player dialogue, quest objectives, spells, items, journal entries, effects, actions, locations, and names into their Latin language versions. This is great for both language learning and greater immersion in a very Roman-like Empire.

Hoc ludum tuum 'Skyrim' in sermonem Latinum mutat.

Nonnulla saecula post Crisin Oblivionis, Imperium Romanum in statu declinae est.  Impetus frequentes in Provinciam Cyrodilem Italicam et
praesertim vastatio Urbis Imperialis Romae a Visigothis Altalfis vim centralem Imperii fregerunt. Apud hos tumultus interminabiles, nova pericula in provincia septentrionali Caelifine surgunt.

Several hundred years after the Oblivion Crisis, the Imperial Roman (1) Empire has fallen into a state of decay.  Constant assaults on the Province of Italian Cyrodil and, more specifically, the sack of the Imperial city of Rome by Altalfi Visigoths of the Summerset Isles have  fractured the once strong central rule of the Empire.  The Visigoths greatly diminished the once universal cult of the Emperor and completely forbade the worship of the God-Emperor Talos, who in different aspects founded the Empire and put an end to the Oblivion crisis. Even the languages of the provinces are beginning to drift from the strictly grammatical Latin forced on them by the Empire. Among these never ending tumults, new threats have arisen in the northern province of Skyrim (2).

Here, the puppet king of the Germanic Nords, Torygg, was killed by Count Vercingetorix Sturmmantel  (3). Once a soldier of the Imperial Legion, Vercingetorix developed a profound hatred of his former comrades due to their (unwilling) allegiance to the Visigoths and enforcement of their commandment not to allow Talos worship. He and his band of fiercely proud Germans have hatched a province-wide rebellion against Roman and Visigothic dominion.

Skyrim is known throughout the empire as a land wary of outsiders, but its vast expanses of open territory have also made it a haven for Lizard-Like Argonian Chameleons, Long-Lived Atralfi from Morrowind, Far-Shooting Boscalfi from Valenwood, Powerfully-Magical Britanni from High Rock, Feline Khajiti from Elseweyr, and even Berserkr Orci , who have several strongholds throughout Skyrim. Though he does not preach hatred, Vercingetorix’s platform of driving out the Empire has attracted many others to his cause who believe that other races have no place in Skyrim. To protect the Empire’s interest and keep the peace with the Visigoths, Emperor Titus Medus II sent General Marcus Tullius Cicero to Skyrim.

During this very time of civil war and internecine strife, Rumors of the long prophesied Dragonborn (4) whisper around Skyrim. Whether this hero will fight in the civil war or choose to join the Thieves Guild (5), Dark Brotherhood (6), Companions (7), Wizard's College of Winterhold, the recently arrived Volkihar Clan  of Vampires, or their Dawnguard (8) opponents is unknown, but the fate of Skyrim hangs in the balance of their actions.

These string files will make all textual player dialogue, quest objectives, spells, items, journal entries, effects, actions, locations, and names into Latin. The two versions currently available with a third to follow eventually. If you do not use subtitles, they will be indistinguishable from one another. One will give Latin for all of the above and English subtitles for NPC conversation and the other will give Latin for all of the above and Italian subtitles. Until the third version with Latin subtitles for NPC conversation is complete, I personally play with Italian Audio, Latin for all of the above, and English subtitles for NPC conversation.

If your game is in English right now, all you need to do is download one of the two zip files (or one of the folders labelled strings) and unzip it into your Skyrim Data folder (Usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data on a PC) . Within the data folder, keep the strings in the folder titled strings, rather than loose, or they will not work. If your game is in a different language, you will need to change the word English in the title of all of the string files to the language you are currently using.

If you are using Mod Organizer and the language does not change for you, do the following:
With MO, Click on "Configure Profiles" at the top
