Ah, the Imperial Dragon Crown, you say? A fine piece of craftsmanship, that—more than just gold and jewels. It's a symbol, plain and simple. Following the destruction of the Amulet of Kings, the Imperial Red Dragon Crown is the most prized possession of the Empire. A symbol of divine right and authority bestowed upon the Emperors of Cyrodiil who dared follow in the footsteps of the Septims.
Location The Red Dragon Crown can be obtained during the Dark Brotherhood questline and is found inside the Emperor's Quarters on The Katariah.
Ever wonder why the Red Dragon Crown never appeared in any game besides Arena? It's mentioned ONCE in Oblivion by Baurus at the beginning but never takes an appearance or the Ruby Throne. (Yeah, it took ESO to give us the Ruby Throne, but come on) ###
The crown can be claimed by the Dragonborn during the Dark Brotherhood quest. It is found inside the Emperor's quarters, on a table. Alternatively, you may add it to your inventory either through console commands or through AddItemMenu. Open your console and type:
help "Red Dragon Crown"
The crown itself is a circlet jewelry piece, and I made it where it should fit over most hairstyles, but there will be some that will obviously clip with, like high ponytails, puffy hairstyles, etc.
