1. WE DO NOT SUPPORT VR IN ANY WAY!!! Bethesda has intentionally not provided it with mod support. It was built from an ancient fork of SE from before the Creation Club came into existence. The price of VR gear is too expensive for members of the team to justify. Plus the master files don't match up at all. There are currently no modder supported methods to auto-patch for VR since VR does not have any of the new content from SE 1.6.
2. We will not tolerate support requests for anyone using a jailbroken console. These activities are ILLEGAL and any posts on the subject will be instantly deleted, your access to this thread blocked permanently, and you WILL be reported to Nexus Staff for piracy.
3. This is NOT a general troubleshooting area. This topic is specifically for support of the patch. Please keep any general troubleshooting to the forums where you will get a more useful response for yourself and others.
4. Under no circumstances will we provide you with old copies of the patch. Do not ask. We will also NOT provide support for the archives which Nexus is forcing people to maintain. Do not ask about those either. All posts asking us to provide support for older versions of the game will be summarily deleted from now on.
6. If you're using any of the additional DLCs from the Anniversary Edition Upgrade, you need to also download Garthand's Unofficial Skyrim Creation Club Content Patches as these will resolve the conflicts between USSEP and the DLCs, as well as addressing other bugs in them that we are not covering.
7. Yes, you understood correctly, as of the June 2022 update, fixes for the 4 free DLCs that were downloaded with the 1.6 game update are now incorporated with the USSEP.
For some reason after updating this mod, several npcs are wearing steel armor instead of their default clothing. Is this happening to anybody else? Edit: A lot of the female npcs are wear Katria's Steel Armor. Also where can I go to get the immediate previous version of this mod?
Hi I'm a bit confused. I clicked on the changelog link on the front page and it brings up a changelog showing the last update as 4-7-2024. The file date is 4-17-2024. Is there an additional changelog somewhere else? Thank you for your help.
I am playing on 1.6.1130 and today updated it as it mentioned it was compatible, but now it does not load the game, no save does, I guess it's not safe to update mid save or something else was broken. Is there any way to access the previous USSEP version to continue playing? UPDATE // Can start a new game, apparently without issue, but loading any save gets me the infinite loading bug.
That wouldn't be recommended since those cosaves hold important data about the mods that use SKSE. Deleting one from a save you want to keep using would break it.
Ian Patterson told me on question, that it is save to delete a co-save. He even confirmed, that it is possible that some mods can write bad data into the co-save, so you will not be able to continue on a savegame except you delete the co-save file. Expierenced this many times.
UPDATE // Deleting the SKSE Co-save had no impact in loading 3 of my saves (one of them even 2 hours behind my current run), all infinite loading screen issue. I could not confirm or deny deleting the SKSE Co-save is safe since I cannot start my saved games :P
Just installed the new USSEP version on my SAE 1.6.1170 / SKSE 2.2.6 installation and could start all of my savegames. In the past I have never had any issues updating USSEP on a running game so far. I'm pretty sure your issue is not related to this USSEP updated version.
Well, this is the thing. I managed to load a save, an autosave (eww) that was coincidentially on an inside cell (Elysium), a few minutes of the original playthrough's issues, my saves were all manual and none worked, but this one, the game started normally, I managed to reeach the same spot (bandit's moon camp with the mod serenity and Yuliana's Werewolf wench placed there for the her quest.) and I managed to play for near an hour without issues, however, it crashed upon entering the moon camp's cave. Then I tried to load a couple of saves I did after the Elysium load and none of them loaded. I can still load the Elysium save with no issues. I went to Helgen, the eldergleam´s outside area and that other cave between whiterun and riverwood, but not inside and saved, then attempted to load and nope, outside cells do not load.
The last run I had was the exact same build except for this new USSEP version, the newest SPID and removed player houses and followers and managed to play without any issues whatsoever. Maybe I will just start a whole new game at this point.
TKHBMVP Yeah buddy, I'm thinking the same, but as I just posted, the only difference from my last playthrough where I managed to do quite a lot of the game (144 hours) are that I removed player homes and simple followers, and before starting the game updated to the newest SPID and everything worked perfectly fine until yesterday when Updated, midgame, to this new USSEP version. Saves stopped loading, I just found that small Inside cells do load, outside cells do not.
That's the reason my main suspect might be USSEP, but maybe the culprit is elsewhere. Thanks for the input though.
Maybe I typed it wrong (English is not my main language) I mentioned I removed player homes and simple followers and updated SPID before starting this run. That one last time I played I did quite a lot on Skyrim without issues. On this new clean run, the only thing different (besides removing those mods before starting the game) was updating midway the USSEP from 1.3.0a to 1.3.1 On this playthrough running on 1.3.0a was perfect as usual, until I updated.
And Yeah, I have used the save cleaned, and I did suspected of something similar and tried it, however my current save does not give any errors or warnings on the save cleaner tool. No orphaned scripts or save bloat either.
I think it's worth noting that the 2 saves that were provided both have ~500 mods attached to them. Without those mods installed the saves simply crash the game before anything has a chance to initialize.
Given this, I'm not sure it'll be possible for us to figure out why they hang on load, and it certainly isn't going to be a reason to provide an older version of the USSEP.
Hi Arthmoor, Yeah, I thought as much, and I did not knew the controversy of your file distribution practices until I started to search for the older versions and why they're not easily available, I understand and support your decision, but If I knew beforehand I would've stored my "working modlist" myself, that's a lesson learned from my side I think XD. Nonetheless thanks for your time guys, have a nice one!
Can anybody help me please? I'm trying to make my first modlist(wish me luck) :) and people told me 1.5.97 is the most compatible version but I can't find the 1.5.97 version of this mod? Is it not needed for 1.5.97 is that why?
Whoever told you that is wrong. Update to the most recent version of Skyrim, 99.999999% of mods work with 1.6.1170 and we do not support outdated versions.
@ DarthVitrial Have you used one of these versions 1.6.640 to 1.6.1170 extensively and tested the ergonomics of the game in all situations? Sure a casual player will report to you "everything is perfect". Let just recall the number of "accidents" done by Bethesda from the first day they released SSE in 2016 to this day. Starting by CombatToNormal dialogue bug passing by the wolves howl and ending by the frost slow effect among a lot of other things...
I asked this question in r/skyrimmods and there were apparently about 30-40 mods that are currently not working with newer releases. Some I don't care that much but some seemed very important to me, like Ultimate Combat. I want to make the combat as hard as possible, very close to Souls games so it seems like a must have. Also I have been told that there is a script framework that won't be updated past 1.5.97 so a lot of mods that rely on it will not work for quite some time until somebody updates it.
I personally prefer using new versions as they say "new is always better" but at the same time you're missing out on a lot of mods when you do so and I'm not sure if I can have Skyrim exactly the way I want it without some of these mods.
All of that is outweighed by the fact that sticking to a game version that old will lead to compatibility issues with mods, not the least of which would be this one. As the game continues to receive updates, so to will USSEP. The differences grow larger between 1.6 and 1.5 with each patch. If you happen to run into an issue and need Bethesda's help to solve it, they won't even give you the time of day if you're not on the latest version of the game.
Any mod which has not moved beyond 1.5 at this point is a mod you should set aside. There's no real excuse for it anymore and all it does is serve to drive a wedge into the community that those folks over on reddit are all to happy to help hammer into place over some truly niche content - some of which a little research will show has replacements on 1.6 anyway.
There is nothing wrong with 1170. Don't listen to those people. They hate on Bethesda, CC content, updates, Fallout 4, and Starfield like it's their job.
I never said there is something wrong with 1130 or 1170, nor I think these people would hate an updated version of a game that they love. It's just that some mods are not updated for the newest version as fast as USSEP does. Imagine that Bethesda released 3 more new updates in 30 days, a lot of mods will be updated but then a lot of mods also won't be updated. It's only natural to want the most compatible version, in an ideal world you would want everything to be updated, and we wouldn't be talking about this but it just doesn't happen sadly. :'(
Most of the time, because of user error, ppl go around making wild claims that some mod is not working on the newest version, for instance, below there's someone linking True Directional Movement and saying it's "DEAD" and doesn't work on 1170.
I'm on 1170, using True Directional Movement to its fullest.
Sometimes I think ppl don't even test it, they just "think" it doesn't work and go around saying it doesn't. Party Combat Parameters was also mentioned, it's not even updated for 1.6.640. LOL The author completely abandoned it. It's like ppl staying on 1.5.97 to use minimap and then in 2024 they're bothering mod authors to release versions for a jurassic version of the game. I get not wanting to live 1.6.640 for now, it's been just a couple of months(?) ever since 1170, so MAYBE not all mods are updated yet, but downgrading to 1.5.97? I consider any mod not supporting the newest versions of the game as abandoned, and if it's abandoned, it means no bug corrections, no improvements, nothing and it's not like such mods could be considered "finished" either.
@Doryani Once I removed all of those older mods from before 1.6.640, my game has been much more stable. I have only encountered two instances that occasionally cause crashes. Basically, I do a hard save before entering Dragonsreach and The Palace of the Kings as a precaution because of one to three nifs. Could be a conflict with LUX. I am not sure at this moment. There are a few spots that cause FPS drops due to texture and mesh replacers that I am using. Could be GPU related. I have only been building my load order for about a year. There are some people here who have a decade of experience on me.
Unless you are running "creepy" LL sexlab mods, there is probably no reason not to update the game to its most current version.
The update to .1130 pissed me off as well. As @xLenax said, mods eventually were updated.
Hi, noob question here, since many of the mods rely or require ussep, will it be safe to update my ussep to latest version or wait for the other mods to update theirs? Thank you..
Are skyrim AE now the same between steam and GoG im just wondering for the sake of your mod and others becuase previously you would need a different build of a mod to play for gog vs steam?
Can someone look into the Bug at the arcane enchanter, when you rename an item, the enchanter bugs you out and you cant use any movement controls only the tilde key and the mouse movement with zooming, it happens only sometimes but it should get patched, since it's a pretty Common Bug. I tried using commands to enable controls or end the animation loop but to no avail. Only thing you can do is quit to desktop (via commands or end task with task manager) and hope you made a save before enchanting or you would lose your progress. I did remove all mods and reinstalled them but same outcome, (I found other ppl complaining online about the same bug since 2011 but nobody patched it yet) and no I don't have and animation mods installed, only the basic jk's, skyui and the patches. Thanks in advance.

FallrimTools - Script cleaner and more at Skyrim Special Edition Nexus - Mods and Community (nexusmods.com)
As you said, you removed mods during game, that often ends up on orphaned instances and scripts in the savegame, which can finally end up to the issue you have now.
