I realize this probably won't happen, but I would absolutely kill for a version of the 16k mountains that was more greyish like vanilla than reddish brown. These look so great but the color difference is too much for my landscape setup.
Hey there! Was just wondering if I could get a hand with some trouble shooting. I am currently using the MM version of this mod and it would appear that some mountain textures are missing altogether. Most of the snowy mountainous regions are completely devoid of their textures and I haven't been able to figure out why. I've run through all my other graphical mods to see if there could be some sort of file confliction but I haven't been able to find it. The only way these mountains seem to gain their textures back is if the mod is disabled.
I've been having the same issue. There is also some sort of bug that makes Realm of Lorkhan not work with the mountains enabled. This has always been my favorite mountain mod but I haven't been able to solve either the texture issues or compatibility issues. (My last mod list wouldn't even load at all until I disabled the mountains)
its there any reason this can't be just a retexture of MM? This is easily the best texture i have tested on nexus, i only tested the 4k version and it looks insanely good, even in one of the ugly rocks at the outside of Solitude, this rock is just too good, you rock man
Your Majestic Mountains 8K is a definite improvement over the vanilla MM, but I wish your version had better collision. Sometimes I sink knee-deep in the rocks.
This mod have not been updated in a long time, if I would use it myself I would use the latest MM meshes instead of the included ones and also this https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/65042
bump, this should be sticky when the mod author says "hey this is out of date you should do this instead" lol Kinda invalidates my other questions because this post was further down, wish I had seen it first
What about the ESP, does that just exist to load the .ini settings? Can the .esp be disabled and instead those values transferred into skyrim.ini or skyrimprefs.ini? What about the landscape ESL, optional? What exactly do the plugins do
EnesBaba1: As always, if you're unsure where you place the blame for your bad-looking LODs, start by looking into the reflective rectangle on your bathroom wall.

Then play vanilla skyrim until you decide to RTFM and Git Gud.
I use Dave's UHD Majestic Mountains 4K mod. Overall, I really like this mod except for one detail. For some reason, my snow is glowing in some places. I tried turning off all the mods that conflict with this mod, but it did not change anything. I installed two other similar mods - there is no glow. I use enb, which only enhances the glow, but is not the cause of it. I tried replacing the snow files with the snow mod, but that didn't help either. I also tried reinstalling this mod and editing the SkyrimPrefs.ini file. Anyway, I just don't know what the problem is..
You need to set bEnableProjecteUVDiffuseNormals=1 in the skyrimprefs.ini, as it was written in the Majestic Mountains FOMOD, you don't need the original MM, just chaging the setting seems to resolve this issue. You might also need to load your snow and landscape mods after Dave's UFHD Mountains, my blended roads/redone had issues otherwise, but maybe that's just for me.
+1 - Turn OFF the "advanced" goopy white paint shader (this is the "snow shader" checkbox in the skyrim SE launcher's advanced options, or bEnableImprovedSnow=0 in your skyrimprefs.ini under [Display]) - Turn ON projected UV diffuse normals (as instructed above) - Highly recommended: Stop using No Snow Under The Roof and related patches, start using Simplicity of Snow instead (unless you absolutely must have BDS, then keep using NSUTR and its million patches, because BDS and Simplicity of Snow simply...aren't compatible) - Various mesh fixes for glowing terrain objects like this mod (recommended) exist, you'll have to experiment
Last but of utmost importance: Use ANY snow texture mod you like, but make sure an identical copy of snow01.ddsfrom your snow mod (found in .\Data\textures\landscape\) is copied to .\Data\textures\effects\ and renamed projecteddiffuse.dds and is not overwritten by other mods!
^ Some snow mods come with this already done (e.g. Cathedral Snow, Nordic Snow) and some do not (e.g. Fluffy Snow, Freshly Fallen Snow), which I feel makes or breaks people's opinions of those mods if they just install them and don't do the rest.
I personally also extract the normal map from my snow texture mod's snow01_n.dds, discarding the alpha channel (DO NOT APPLY IT) and re-saving it as projectednormal.dds (again, to the textures\effects folder) and another copy of the same file called projectednormaldetail.dds (also in that folder, both projectednormal.dds and projectednormaldetail.dds should be identical copies of your snow's full quality normal map, sans alpha channel).
Last (and probably of least or no real importance) I also use the same projectednoise.dds in textures\effects for all my snow textures to compare them. Since it is not a displayed texture and the content of the noise is largely irrelevant, you can just steal the one from Cathedral Snow 3.3 as I did, or find any noise.dds (like the 2K one which comes with A Quality World Map) and copy it to textures\effects and rename it projectednoise.dds.
Without all of these files existing in textures\effects for each of your snow texture mods, you may not be fully showcasing one or another, and that's not a fair comparison. TBF Fluffy Snow has such convincing depth I actually did end up photoshopping the projected versions so that a light dusting of snow on rocks didn't look like it was at least a couple inches deep from the top but flat from the sides. I may release that as a mod-for-that-mod if enough ppl want it (and I get permission).
With all of those files in place, fairly comparing the four mods, my preference is: 1. Nordic Snow 2. Fluffy Snow 3. Cathedral Snow 3.3 (based on Real Snow HD) 4. Freshly Fallen Snow (too gray and repetitive for me, but it has a certain je ne sais quoi that the others don't, when looking into the distance... and despite being the darkest of these 4 snow retextures, it looks the least dirty on roads and paths, which some people might consider a selling point)
I came to read the comments, I stayed to write a guide lol

Majestic version is standalone, you do not need majestic mountains to use it.
