About this mod

In developing my recent mod list, I created a mod for the fonts I preferred to use in my games with SSE. In any case, I thought I would share them with the community in case anyone else wanted to use them in their game. Sadly, I did not make the actual fonts, just made them usable in SSE, and one font does not have foreign accents (see below).

Tyger's Immersive Fonts for SSE is a small mod designed by myself for my own game play based on several fonts that I found to be both immersive and clear and easy to read.  I used the following fonts:

  • Dumbledor 2 (Main Menu)
  • Dumbledor 2 Thin (Most Other Text)
  • MorrisRoman-Black (Book Text)
  • Anke Calligraphic FG (Handwritten)

While I have taken inspiration from several other font collections, I found that none of those font mods had what I regarded as the ideal combination for what felt immersive for me.  So, I created Tyger's Immersive Fonts for SSE for myself and my own game play and chose the fonts that I considered to be both immersive and clear and easy to read (at least on 24-inch monitor). As I was working on my most recent mod list, I thought that I would share this little mod for those who might find these font choices work for them.

With regard to my thinking regarding the font choices, I chose Dumbledor 2 for it's clarity with a little hints of Old English and Calligraphic Style.  I would have preferred Dumbledor 2 overall though I ran into a few situations where the font character widths had it overwriting the dialogue boxes and so opted for Dumbledoor 2 Thin for the smaller text options.  For me, Morris Roman Black was an ideal choice for books as it seemed to me like the kind of script a monk, mage, priest, or scribe might pen and just as important had clarity and simplified style relative to some other forms of calligraphic styles.  It also allowed for more text to appear on each page which means more to read per page, few pages, and fewer page turns.  With the texture package, I found that books had no need for fancy drop caps as these were handled by textures.... so Morris Roman Black was easily the best choice for me.  And, finally, Anke Calligraphic FG is a masterful font that I feel captures a clear handwritten script with the added benefit of allowing more text to appear on each page so many letters and notes ended up with fewer pages and a lot become a single page.

Overall, these fonts work for the vast majority of books, dialogues, letters, notes, and menus though in rare circumstances you might get a dread empty box in place character - though these instances are pretty rare for English Text. I have been made aware that the accents for foreign languages are absent which is unfortunate as I was not attempting to exclude anyone.  I did, however, make this mod for myself and merely shared it for those who might wish to use it.  Moreover, while their absence is unfortunate, it is not a bug, as I did not create the fonts themselves, merely made them usable in SSE.

While I may dig around the internet in the future when I have time to look for these fonts with a more complete character set to import into .swf and remake the mod, I would welcome anyone else pointing me to these identical fonts with more complete character sets so I can remake the mod.

In the end, I made a simple font set for my game... thought to share... if others like and use it great.  All The Best... ~Tyger~

NOTE: Simple Font Mods like this one have no ESP so do not impact total count.  I am considering making this mod into a BSA w/ESP flagged for ESL.
