About this mod

A small mod that alters the smithing requirements for racially styled armors and weapons (Evlen, Orcish etc.) to allow characters of that race to smith them without the required perks (Acquiring the perk still improves the quality of the armor or weapon when tempered/sharpened)

Racial Armor and Weapon Smithing

This is a pretty simple mod that allows the player to smith armor and weapons in their character's race style, without obtaining the associated smithing perk.

So what armors and weapons can each race now make from the start?

Vanilla:
Dark Elves: Basic Bonemold Armor and Chitin Armor
High Elves: Standard Elven armor and weapons
Orcs: Orcish Armor and Weapons

Bethesda locked these armours away behind perks for balancing reasons, why change it?
For Roleplaying reasons mainly. It made very little sense to me that an orc who grew up in a stronghold and was taught smithing would learn how to make iron/steel armor like the Nords before their own style of armour. The same could be said for a high elf from summerset isles or a dark elf from Morrowind learning human styles before their own elven style.
So if I am playing a character with even a little bit of smithing experience in their backstory, I thought it would make sense that they would learn the styles used wherever they came from.

For balancing reasons, I only gave each race one of their armour styles (e.g glass smithing is associated with the elves, but they only get their standard armours through this mod), with the exception dark elves because there's no bonemold/chitin weapons, so I figured they could get an extra set instead.
For the orcs, in particular, I felt that letting them be a bit unbalanced at the start of the game made a bit of sense since, in the game's lore, they're known for being exceptional smiths.

So now that you don't need the perks to make these armors, why get the perks?
Aside from the fact you still need the perk to progress through the tree, the perk isn't completely useless. you still need it to be able to improve your armor and weapons in that category "twice as much". Any unique items that fall into that category will also still need that perk to improve it  (e.g auriel's bow/shield is part of the elven smithing category), and any mods that add armours/weapons into the game will still need the required perks to be made.

Installation:
Simply drag and drop the .esp file into your data folder, along with the two patches if you want to use them!

Patches and compatibility
Any mod that alters the crafting recipes of the bonemold, elven or orcish armors/weapons won't be compatible with this mod. I'm only aware of one at the moment that has a direct conflict with RAAWS, and that's Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade for SSE, but if you know of any others, please let me know!

I've also made optional patches for the Immersive Armors and Weapons mods by Hothtrooper44 to make them consistent with this mod's changes

Immersive Armors:

Redguards: Redguard knight armor set
Wood Elves: Bosmer armor set (light only)

Immersive Weapons:
Argonians: Anx-lileel Warbow (and arrows)
High Elves: All Elven weapon additions
Orcs: All Orcish Weapon additions

Thanks, for checking my (first) mod out, I hope you enjoy!
