after almost 5 years ive gotten a "bit" of time to go back to look at all my old mods i ported back then to do some bug fixes. soon ill be reuploading a optional file to download for people who want the loose files VS the ESP. Don't expect it anytime soon from this post, but i have it on my to-do list but very low prio. (theres 5 massive mods on my todo list for bug fixes, and this is the last one)

to everyone who has downloaded this mod over all these years i thank you for your support and with almost 500k downloads it BLOWS my mind this is one of those mods almost everyone uses in their playthrews!!

any chance for a performance variant? like 512 should totally be enough and save on VRAM

if your looking for performance, downloading graphics mods isnt what you should be doing unless you downloading mods to tune the graphics down in the first place. this mod might not be what your after if thats the case

Uh yeah, who would ever think of having an optimized or performance friendly version of mods. That's a crazy thought and should be "looking elsewhere".

But yeah, use Cathedral Assets Optimizer since this is apparently too much for some mod authors.

What a stupid response. Many players enjoy a balance of good graphics and decent FPS.

Texture size only increases memory usage, if you're having FPS issues then you're using too much VRAM and have more important things to worry about than retexturing dust

Since the Oldrim version is just textures it should just work for SE right. And why if its just textures does this port need an esp plugin to work shouldn't that be unnecessary?

Just saying, in the LE (Oldrim) mod pages there is a version 2 of this mod. It works in SSE out of the box, no porting needed.

I wonder if you could make an esl version - wryebash shows that you can.

Not to be negative to the person posting this port here, but WHY does it even need a plugin? It's three small textures. The only reason this plugin exists is to load the BSA file. If you open this in SSEEdit, you can see it's just an empty plugin that only exists for that purpose (you have to have an esp with the same name as the archive in order for it to load.)

This doesn't need to be made into an ESL to save you a load slot. Just extract the texture folder from the BSA, then delete the BSA and the ESL.

Aside from that silliness, it's a great mod and does a very nice job with the dust textures.

Though, if I am being completely honest, and not to be unfair to the mod author or poster (because this IS a five year old mod), my personal opinion is that DUST by Ramccoid is a bit better. It covers ALL the dust effects in the game, improves the meshes and is just loose files.

Even if you prefer the textures from this mod, and I can certainly appreciate it, I would STILL download Ramccoid's DUST mod, and then do as I suggested with extracting the BSA and deleting that and the ESP, and letting this one overwrite the one from Ramccoid. The benefit there is that you get his improved meshes and all of the additional textures this one doesn't cover and you still get the benefit of these as well.

      FWIW.

it is the way it is for the upload to bethesda for consoles......... you cant just upload textures to Xbox and expect it to just work, it NEEDS a ESL to load on Xbox

An oldie but a goodie. These dust effects is exactly what I needed vs misc changes such as 'no dust particles' to fix the aberration that 'dust' was before. Thank you for your efforts! Looking forward to the possible option of having loose files for ultimate customization.
