This little mod does exactly what it says on the tin - reduces the weight of all the staves in the game. There was no feasible reason they should weigh so much unless they were super dense, which didn't seem likely. Most of them look like they're made of polished wood, or chitin the case of the Falmer. I couldn't find another mod that did this so here it is, in case any others can find a use for it. I set them all to weigh 4... units... which is half of the standard weight though there exists a few that were set even higher.
Everything is esp-fe so it won't take up any spots in your load order. I completely rebuilt the mod so that it relies more on staff templates rather than editing every single staff weapon. This should make it far more compatible.
Unfortunately, I did have to edit unique staffs themselves since they don't rely on a template. So anything that alters the Sanguine's Rose, Staff of Jyrik Gaulderson, Wabbajack, Aetherial Staff, etc. items directly will need a patch.
I also made some minor name changes, such as changing the names of the Falmer and Forsworn staffs to say "Falmer/Forsworn Staff of Whatever" instead of just "Staff of Whatever" so that they were distinct from the standard versions. Things like "Halldir's Staff" have also been changed to "Staff of Halldir" for sorting purposes. Sorry if you don't like it, should be a few easy overrides in xEdit to revert it back to vanilla.
Let me know if I've overlooked a staff.
COMPATIBILITY
Mods that add staves based on the already-existing templates should inherit the new weight, but anything that adds a staff using a brand-new template will need some patching, as well as anything altering the unique staves.
Both Apocalypse and Mysticism seem to be completely covered out of the box, as all their new staves seem to be based on the vanilla templates.
Feel free to make your own patches, or request them (no guarantee I'll do it, but if I like the mod, I might). You can host 'em yourself or send 'em in if you'd rather that. This mod was just a handful of tedious, tedious changes in xEdit and opening and closing the game to make sure it all worked. No credit necessary.
