1. Features
=====================================================================
Despite several solutions available online, I chose to do this mod since I wanted something that would not conflict with any other mod in order to be able to kill essential NPCs for roleplaying purposes. As of version 1.3, this plugin is flagged as "ESL" and its extension is ".esp", so that you can place it wherever you want in your mods load list.

All this mod does is create a MCM menu and a quest to automatically add the following spell to the player:
Spell
At the start of the game after installing the mod, you will receive a new spell called "Kill Essential NPC" (under the Destruction branch). As of update 1.5, this spell will put the NPC under a curse for 3 minutes. If the NPC falls to an HP of 0 or below, or enters into bleedout while under the curse, the NPC will die instantly (if the NPC is protected by a Quest that prevents it from naturally dying, the NPC will turn to unlootable ashes instead). The spell is silent, non-hostile and NPCs will not know they are under its effects, so you can cast it before or after fighting the NPC (that is, before or after the NPC enters bleedout). After 3 minutes have passed, a notification is sent to the player to warn him that the NPC is no longer under the curse.
In the MCM menu, you are able to select whether you want the spell to only work on NPCs flagged as Essential by the game or not. Unfortunately, be aware that some Essential NPCs are not properly flaged as Essential by the game (they are protected by a Quest for instance).
You can turn all children killable by ticking the option within the MCM Menu (experimental feature).

What is an Essential NPC?
An Essential NPC, in practise, cannot be killed under any condition, and when their health bar fully depletes, they will merely fall into a state of recovery for a short time before standing back up with full health. It is not possible to tell whether an NPC is essential without attempting to kill them.
Some NPCs in Skyrim are always essential and can never be killed, even after their associated quests are completed. Notable examples include the Imperial legates at the Imperial camps and named Stormcloak officers at the Stormcloak camps.
For more information, please check this PAGE.

Children (Experimental)
As of version 1.3, you can turn all children killable through the MCM menu. Unticking the option will make the children invulnerable again. It only affects the following vanilla children race: "ImperialRaceChild", "RedguardRaceChild", "NordRaceChild", "BretonRaceChild", and "BretonRaceChildVampire".

Why did you create a MCM menu?
Some NPCs not only are flagged as Essential, they are also flagged as Invulnerable. An Invulnerable NPC cannot be the target of spells, such as the one this mod adds to the player. Hence, in the MCM menu, you are able to remove the Invulnerability flag from the desired NPC by checking the box next to their name. To prevent them from dying from someone else instead of the player, they will get the Protected status. Unticking the box next to their name will assign the Invulnerability flag again.
In addition, this allows me to clear important settings concerning children and reset them without having to override mods.

2. Requirements
=====================================================================
- Skyrim Special Edition.
- SkyUI.
- SKSE64.

=====================================================================
3. Known Issues
=====================================================================
The ash pile dropped by NPCs protected by a Quest is unlootable.

=====================================================================
4. Installation
=====================================================================
Either use your favourite mod manager, or extract the .bsa and the .esp files to the Data folder and enable them.

=====================================================================
5. Compatibility
=====================================================================
It should be compatible with pretty much everything. No change to any existing NPC or quest is made.

=====================================================================
6. Uninstallation
=====================================================================
Just remove the spell from your character using the console, save and then remove the mod. As simple as that!
