Version 1.1 - I added ESL flags to all the plugins, so they don't count toward the plugin limit anymore. No other content was changed, so as far as I know, it should be safe to just replace any plugins you currently use with the new ones. Also added a tiny patch for Forgotten Magic Redone.

    Hey guys!

Here's a suuuuper simple change that makes it easier to use this mod in complex loadorders:

    - Open Wrye Bash and find "No Vendor or Loot Spells.esp"
    - Look at the lower, left-hand pane, title: "Bash Tags"
    - Right Click and choose "Delev"

In Smash you can do something similar:

    - Open Mator Smash and find "No Vendor or Loot Spells.esp"
    - Right click the plugin
    - Choose Smash Setting / Bash / Bash.Delev

These settings should ensure that the deletions from levelled lists are properly propagated and don't get overwritten by your dynamic patch - WITHOUT forcing you to put the plugin at the very end of your load order (which can potentially cause other problems.)

Thanks for this useful post! I edited the load order part in the description and added a link to it there.

I reported an inability to remove vanilla spell tomes in the bug section. As I said there, I'm an experienced modder and used this mod successfully in Oldrim. I placed this mod at the very end of my load order, always in a new game (sadly, like many here, I don't play the game, I spend all my time adding new mods). Despite multiple attempts, including waiting in-game for many days, Farengar continued to have all the vanilla spells. The Apocalypse patch and the Riverwood Trader patch seemed to work, however.

I solved this problem as follows. I used a different mod for the vanilla spells: Rarer Spell Tomes. I edited this mod in SSEEdit as the author instructs in the description, so that a mod intended to make spell tomes "rare" actually made them non-existent. Except for master-level spell tomes, like this mod. I changed the value of 8 globals to 100, thereby making all vanilla spell tomes disappear.

Spell tomes added by other mods, I still have to work on. From this mod, I used the Apocalypse, Frostfall and Riverwood Trader patches.

And voila, my problem is solved. I still do not understand why this mod failed to remove vanilla spell tomes. But after much effort, I arrived at a good conclusion. The only thing not covered is the Apocalypse - Waterstride add-on, which still appeared in-game. I ended up deleting that ESP, and will just do without that spell. I do not want any spell tomes in the game, except those given as quest rewards.

Hopefully, this will be helpful to others experiencing the same problem.

It's not too hard, first have an image you want to share, and upload it to an image-sharing website like Imgur, then hit the "Insert image" button in the bar up top while writing a reply (the one that looks like a mountain range with a sun in the top right), then, add a link to wherever your image is posted.

this mod is exactly what i wanted to use beside spell research, (and i was using it for years in LE beside SR and big magic mods), but now there are huge reworks for big magic mods that do not have a patch like this and it would be pretty stupid to use the patches available here for some of them and leave the rest just out there with their spells all over the levelled list.

that is why (and long story short), i wanted to ask for a patch for these remaining mods that require this amazing work added to them: 1. Arcanum, 2. elemental magic redone, 3. mysticism, 4. triumvirate.

all of these mods are essential in any playthrough even if you're not a primary magic user player. thats why i would totally appreciate a patch for them as well. thank you for all of the great work and i hope to see a patch for those mods soon ;)

How exactly are those mods essential? What do they add that would make them absolutely necessary? QOL? Variety (That doesn't stray too far from the vanilla style)? Or is it a simple flair these mods add that makes the game world feel alive? I would love to know, as I am making a mod pack that aims to add a real magical pop to the whole of Skyrim. Thanks.

Is there any possibility you could add coverage for Enai Siaion's newest mod Odin - Skyrim Magic Overhaul?

Good mod, and I'm definitely endorsing.

Nevertheless, I would also caution everyone against removing every spell tome from the game when using Spell Research.

My experience was that having absolutely no spells available as research references had the potential to royally screw over mage characters in the early game. I'd recommend keeping at least one or two mods around that are unpatched, so you have something to work with at least. But maybe that's just me.

Thank you for this mod. I have a request that I would like to make if that's ok.

Have a way to perhaps exclude the College of Magic vendors from this book purge? I really like that people don't really sell spells anymore, but at the College their whole philosophy is that magic should be shared and studied, so it makes sense that they may continue to sell books. it would also provide an incentive/excuse for the less studious folk to go there simply to expand what they've already researched themselves.

I second this, though maybe there could be some way to limit the number of tomes they have? I'd say find another way to learn magic at the college, but that is beyond the scope of this mod.

Another request I'd personally make would be to have spell tomes as loot in certain places. Yeah, it doesn't make sense for spell tomes to be sold like candy by most vendors in Skyrim... but it does make sense for say a Dragon Priest to have a few on them, or necromancers, or warlocks, witches. Maybe just posting a version of this mod that leaves spell tomes as loot (restricted to certain types of dungeons or enemies if possible), but still removes the tomes from merchants? Sort of a nice compromise rather than it being an all or nothing.
