Changelogs
Keys have a weight of zero in Skyrim. This is not only unrealistic, but also makes them fairly boring. Since there is no downside, you simply carry every key all the time. Adding minor weight to keys gives some incentive to think about which keys you want to carry with you. The default weight is 0.1, but the value is configurable.

The mod is offered as an UPF patcher. This means it utilizes the Unified Patching Framework (UPF) of zEdit and generates a patch plugin tailored to your load order.

Installation

  • Install the latest release of zEdit.
  • Manually download this mod.
  • Open zEdit. Click the button in the top right that looks like three little cubes. Click 'Install Module' and select the downloaded file.
  • Restart zEdit.

Now you are able to build the patch plugin. These steps should be repeated each time you add, remove or update a mod to your load order.

  • Open zEdit and load your entire load order.
  • Press Ctrl + Shift + P or click the button in the top right that looks like a jigsaw piece.
  • Make sure Keys Have Weight is ticked and click 'Build'.
  • Exit zEdit saving the created patch plugin zPatch.esp.
  • Make sure zPatch.esp is activated at the bottom of your load order.

Compatibility

Compatible with anything.

Known Issues

The UI doesn't expect keys to have weight and thus displays an empty item card for them.
