About this mod

A Windows batch file to generate a mod giving vampires normal-looking faces, no matter what texture mods you have installed.

After reading one too many threads on /r/skyrimmods asking how to fix vampires' ugly vanilla faces, I finally decided to automate the process. This may very well be the first Skyrim mod created by an algorithm, so make sure to thank Mr. Skeltal our future robot overlords.

Provided you have have one or more body texture mods - like TCM or UNP - installed, the batch file will copy your face textures, rename them to instead override the vampiric textures, and package them for you as a mod archive. Note that it cannot access textures inside a BSA: so if your body mod has one, or you're hoping to use vanilla textures, you'll need to extract them beforehand.

The generated mod will only replace the bat-face textures of the base game - the shape of your head will remain unaffected. If you also want to be rid of the vampire's sunken visage, you'll want to use a mod like Vampire Facial Reclamation in addition to this one.

Instructions:

Drop the batch file into your root Skyrim directory - the same where SkyrimSE.exe (or Skyrim.exe) is kept. Double-click it to run. Your new mod will show up on your desktop, and you can install it with your manager of choice, such as Vortex or MO2. I'd recommend giving it a more informative name, based on the particular textures from which you just copied. I'm only hosting this on the SSE Nexus, but it'll work basically the same for original Skyrim, too.

Requirements:

  • Windows OS (or GNU/Linux with WINE)
  • Skyrim (LE or SE)
  • 7-Zip
  • Vortex or the Nexus Mod Manager (does not work with Mod Organizer nor Kortex)
