If you had the option to make this independent of the original mod, you should have. Don't make people install broken mods. Enchanting Freedom is a form 40 plugin and therefore is completely broken.
A. This mod shouldn't even have enchanting freedom as a master. That can be removed by cleaning it. B. The original mod can be converted to form 44 with CK. C. Any of these can be edited with xEdit and the records can be easily copied over to a new ESPFE w/out needing to have this or the original as a master.
I am using Skyrim SE v 1.6.1170 and was skeptical that this non-updated LE mod would work for SE, especially when Wrye Bash warned me on installation that it was using outdated header information. However, I tried it and immediately after installing I was able to apply the fortify alchemy effect to a set of boots, which I could not do before installing the mod, so it appears to work. Thanks for uploading it to the Skyrim SE site.
For those using vortex and confused about enabling the patches. They're in the plugin section of it. type Enchanting Freedom in the name bar and enable the patches that you need.
The download contains multiple esp-files, one for each mod/patch. Download the mod and only enable the esp for summermyst, and ignore the rest of the esp-files.

There's a programmatic (via SKSE and Address plugin) approach to this now that is more flexible and can work with items from both vanilla *and* mods both now and in the future, with no mod-specific patches:

Are there downsides to this programmatic approach, possibly in terms of game overhead? It's an alternative to consider, at least.
