Can't load into an existing save with this mod enabled as I get crashes on load screen. The FAQ says it should work for an existing save, but the install doesnt seem to have an option designed for an existing save without the mod pre-installed so is this not the case any more?
Can't think of any reason why this mod would cause crashes. It's a pretty basic mod that hasn't had a need for an update in years.
If you already have the robes in your save, they'd still be using the old enchantment. If you haven't gotten/loaded them yet, they'd spawn with the new enchantment.
If you're having problems, it's likely something to do with your overall mod install. Have you gone over 254 non-light plugins? Do you have something else that may affect the robes or the Mage College questline? Maybe there's something that so dramatically changes how crafting works that adding recipes to the list causes problems, or maybe you have too many crafting recipes in general? There's a number of options that might explain what's going on without this mod actually being the direct cause, but just a catalyst.
Would it be possible to add a compatibility patch for Joy of Perspective? Right now, this mod makes your torso invisible in first person, even with the default robe look
Not that I'm aware of. It's an engine limitation for custom enchanted items.
The description you see on the original item is actually associated with the item itself, and the enchantment has no description text. Each magic effect associated with the enchantment has its own description, and you see the summary of all of them on the custom item.
- This mod creates new ARMA records (ARMAs point to meshes and sometimes textures). - It also edits the ARMO record (think of that record type as the "master" that defines how the item is constructed).
This means you may have another mod that also changes the ARMO (probably to change what ARMA pieces it's using), and then my plugin is overriding that. My plugin is perfectly safe to disable temporarily to test issues like this. If you disable it (and, if necessary, give yourself a new robe through the console: player.additem 0010f570 ), do you still have the gap around the legs?
Hmmm. Well, when I get some time, I can do a test with just this and CBBE installed and see if I can reproduce the problem.
It's possible I overlooked something. It's also possible something may need to be regenerated from the CBBE meshes on your end, which happens occasionally with batch building. A third option is that this is a problem on CBBE's side that I've somehow managed to uncover, but I'm not sure how. The placeholder data I've added to the plugin having to do with appearance should be near-exact duplicates of what the base game uses, just in new records, so any bodypart flags should be identical. But like I said, I'll give it a test when I can.
Will this need an update for the new Skyrim SE version and SKSE update? I appreciate your work and want to continue utilizing this mod. I thank you. Also does the All-In-One version allow you to disable some of the features? I currently use the version 1.1.1 of Better Archmages Robes SSE and I prefer having only those features but want to make sure that if I update the mod it can be done without adding all of the crafting features and such.
Nope, nothing that changed with recent updates affects what I've done here.
As for the version differences, the All-In-One version is the inclusion of a new crafting system that allows you to change which version of the robe you're using without needing to use the console to give you a fresh copy of the item. I intend on at some point adding that system to the Better Staff of Magnus mod as well, but there's a lot more versions to cover on that side, as well as the related testing.
nice mod my friend. using this mod in AE I always felt like s#*! that only the nightgale armor among all the faction armors in the game, it is THE UNIQUE leveled.. the others are the same from level 1. (and they are weak, the armor of thieves oh my god, sucks) with a mod to improve/level up each of these 3 guilds and their armor I feel that doing the faction quests now is really worth it :D
Hey is this compatible with opulent outfits? I already have archmage robes so wondering if I dl this mod will I have the better stats or will it be like the old?
It is NOT compatible with Opulent Outfits as of the latest version of each mod. I approached Mebantiza in the past about making a compatibility patch, but was told that while I could make one for the old open source versions, I could not for his (which is the most commonly used).
In theory I could make a patch that works for all versions of Opulent, his included, but for one reason or another I just never bothered. With his recent exodus from the Nexus, maybe now's the time.
