Instead of a mod website, I put all the information in sections of the mod description. Please read all about Better Vampires in the mod description (including troubleshooting and FAQs).
Have a problem? Then PLEASE post in this forum so others can see my answer if they have the same issue. I cannot respond to personal messages asking me how to fix your installation or explaining why something isn't working for you. Only message me if you are seeking permission for a translation, are making a video of my mod, etc.
PLEASE read the instructions carefully if you are updating from an older version ... Every time I release a new version people post here that their game is broken or my mod doesn't work. It works just fine, you must follow the steps very carefully and don't skip anything. You should use the Remove Better Vampires.bat file BEFORE installing to make certain that you have no vampire-related loose files in your Skyrim\Data folder. If you do .... they will overwrite my BSA and my mod will not work ...
If using a mod organizer/loader make certain no other mods are loading loose files that affect vampires - especially PlayerVampireQuestScript! A loose file will overwrite my .bsa and it will break things!
If using RS Children Overhaul don't install the RSC Vampire Script Patch in the FOMOD installer, it is incompatible to Better Vampires.
If you are a custom race (they can cause many issues) and are using Race Compatibility. You will have to talk to TMPhoenix. You have to follow his instructions perfectly or it breaks my mod. They are complex and if you made a mistake you will have to seek his help. His mod works fine, but custom races inherently add more problems. Many issues have resulted from his mod (and people not setting it up properly) and I tire of defending my mod when it works fine. If you have an issue, it is 95% mod conflict or user error.
Version 9.1 is released! A new save is recommended, OR follow these steps to blank the mod and make a "clean save" and update.

1) Rest/wait INSIDE for 24hr in the game - this will allow any NPCs you have fed upon, or used Seduction on, time to recuperate. 2) Use my MCM - Troubleshooting and Cleanup page (or my customization power) and click on "BLANK Better Vampires Mod". 3) If using my MCM, exit it to have the mod blanked. 4) Wait until told the blanking is complete, then save your game (it must be a real save, not a quick save). 5) Exit the game. 6) Uninstall and delete the old version of my mod (completely DELETE it from the Skyrim\Data and Skyrim\Data\Scripts folders). I use MO to remove mods, but you can check the files section and use my "Remove Better Vampires" batch file - it will ENSURE everything is gone. 7) Download and install my latest mod version using NMM, MO, or Bethesda.net (for PC or XBox One). 8) Start the game and load your saved game from step 4. 9) Use my MCM - Troubleshooting and Cleanup page (or my customization power) and click on "Reset Sanguinare Vampiris". 10) Customize my mod with the MCM, customization power, or console commands. 11) You were infected in step 9, now you must wait 3 days for your disease to run its course and you will become a stage 1 Vampire (fully fed). * You must feed once on a living victim to have your proper rank set the first time. OPTIONAL STEPS 12) Make a new save after you turn into a vampire the first time (it must be a real save, not a quick save). 13) Exit the game. 14) Use the Script Cleaner (or Skyrim Tools for SE) on the save from step 12 (to ensure the cleanest slate possible). 15) Start the game and load your cleaned saved game from step 14.

- Adjusted Ice Flesh so it is a bit more powerful; it blocks 30-80 damage now depending upon rank. - Added in a second check for those you have turned or enthralled. On an update in game time, they will have the attributes and appearance reapplied. - By default, your stage abilities and rank abilites will not be affected by hunger. - Added in a new MCM option (and in the old config power). You can now disable or enable hunger affecting stage abilities and rank abilities separately if you don't want some to disappear when you are weaker. - Added in an "Ignore" option for all types of feeding or enthralling (thank you for the idea Idrinth!) so you won't get stuck. My perks add in options and should not remove others.
Hi OP, can you update your "Better Vampire Lord" mod please because it doesn't work with this mod. When I used both of these mods, my status got stuck with "Please feed to update". Thank you.
Adding more special feeding victims would be very cool. If someone already has a mod for that pls let me know. Its a nice thing that makes me want to keep playing to see how good the buffs are.
Got this as part of a collection, but after becoming a vampire I can't feed whatsoever. No sneak feed, drain spell option does not work, even blood potions don't work.
EDIT: this seems to be an issue with dynamic activation key/better vampires dynamic activation key patch. the blood potions not working is still confusing me, and also why enabling satiation via drain spells does not work.
Second Edit: no feeding method works other than regular feeding, corpse feeding plays the animation but has no effect on satiation (and the mcm menu will say I still haven't fed in x hours even if I just corpse fed) , blood potions do nothing, setting drain spells to effect satiation does nothing
Hello, so i did download this mod mid game, my character is level 44. The only vampire mod i had prior to downloading this one was a vampire eye replacer and a vamp eye glow mod. along with a vampire armor replacer. Now when downloading this I got a bunch of adjacent mods with the patches I thought would be needed. I got: BnP Teeth overhaul 2k - Eyes of beauty - Vampire Eyes remastered Penumbra vampire lord sounds rework vampire lords can fly vampire lord overhaul - better vampire lords Better vampires - Unofficial patch hub Better vampire Lords 1.32 slightly shorter vampire lord skeleton and of course, Better Vampires 9.1
I made sure to run nemesis, I have loot for the load order and I did look into that, it appears to be right. but upon startup and loading my most recent save it says "Save file corrupt, cannot load" or something like that and it forces me to go back to the Skyrim main menu. If I disable the mod, my save loads fine. I am nervous about testing this mod with a new save because I don't want it to permanently damage my old save.
According to the charts, at Stage 4 with "Slight Sun Damage" on, the damage is supposed to be 10 HP per second? But my character is taking triple that amount at 30 HP per second instead. I tested by drinking a whole bunch of horker stews, and after drinking 30 horker stews, the sun damage stopped.
Then I realized that maybe it could be the difficulty level setting. I play on Legendary so damage dealt by enemies have 3x multiplier. I tried lowering the difficulty to Adept, and sure enough, the sun DoT damage was back down to the stated 10 HP per second.
Is it possible to adjust this so that the sun DoT damage isn't affected by the difficulty level? Even fall damage does not increase from Adept level and higher, so I don't see how a sun DoT damage that is being taken, not by an enemy attack, but as an environmental damage, should have the multiplier effect applied based on difficulty setting. Or maybe that's how the game is designed, I don't know.
If not possible due to game engine and design limitation, I would love to know how I can manually change the values myself.
NPCs I turned into vampires through my blessing all seem to be taking on the role of a spouse. Some of the spouse-specific functions and dialogues I added are appearing on these NPCs, which breaks immersion. I tried killing some of them to remove them from the list, but they appear to be protected and unkillable. Is there any feature that can remove NPCs I’ve turned into vampires from this role? Another issue is that some NPCs completely disappear after being turned into vampires. I can no longer find them in their homes or usual locations.
Does anyone know of a way to patch Better vampires to be compatible with Scion? I know this sounds like the silliest question, but I want to use Better Vampires in JaySerpa's Gate to Sovngarde modlist but Scion is so baked in, it'll take a long time to unbake it. So... Next solution is a patch to make the two work happily together.. Suggestions are greatly appreciated. Calling me an idiot for asking the impossible, accepted.
hi i switched yesterday from vortex to MO2. on vortex all work fine, but now on MO2 i cant change any MCM options in the left side of general options. like powerfull feedings. its defauld on "on" but its off. every time i try to change something in the left side and close the MCM its sets back. any infos or idea how to fix that? i did reinstall two times already, try'd to use the newer translation(interessing point is that the MCM is still englich
I had a mod that allowed me to join the dawn watch as a vampire. When I deactivated it, it worked. But now I'm faced with the problem that when I load the mod, it tells me that the Better Vampires esp is not active, even though it is active in MO2.
When I load a save game, it tells me that the ESP isn't available. I really have no idea what's wrong. But in MO2, it's enabled in the plugin directory. xD
and in a new save the MCM is not displayed which means that the ESP is not activated there either
I'll probably stick with 9.0.1 for now, I don't have the nerve to experiment anymore xD I've been working on it for hours and I'm not really getting anywhere xD
Is the esp and the folder checked? Also, I assume you were updating mid playthrough? Did you follow the steps for a “clean” save and install new version?
I followed everything and even started a new game. I waited, but the Better Vampires MCM didn't appear in the menu. According to MO2 it is activated and can also be seen in the plugin directory on the right.
