SkyPatcher was recently given object bounds support for books as a test run to patch this mod dynamically. Is there a specific process as to how an items object bounds are edited? or rules to follow when patching for other mods?

Does it have a clear instruction on how to use this mod? unzip then which file to put in xEdit and where to open the form tree???  I don't quite get it and I can't remove this mod after accidentally load it to xEdit. Terrible...

install original mod, then download this mod manually. navigate to your XEdit install folder and open 'edit scripts' folder. drop the .pas file from this mod into that folder. launch XEdit and load all plugins. in the left pane with the FormIDs, right click and select 'apply script'. click the drop down where it says 'Script', select 'Unlimited Bookshelves Patch Generator' and select 'OK' at the bottom. if it asks you to add a master select ok. exit, and hit 'OK' to save your new patch. if you don't have your XEdit to output to an empty mod already, and you are using MO2 (which you should be), your new .esp patch will be in 'overwrite' at the bottom. right click an empty space in MO2 and create empty mod, then drag and drop that .esp to it. enable it and you're all set :)
edit: i recommend putting the esp low in your load order so it's below all the masters

I'm getting the 253 masters error like a few others below

(Just to be sure I'm understanding this right, the problem is not that xEdit can't load more than this many plugins, it does so regularly, it's that a plugin can't have more than that many masters)

This might be a stupid idea but is it possible for me to simply comment out the AddMasterIfMissing function and just make a note to myself that I have to regenerate this any time I change my mod list even a little?

Alternatively, has anyone had any luck with this?

I'm also going to take a look at Synthesis and see if it has a patcher available for this

Edit: No you cannot just comment out AddMasterIfMissing, having a think about how to split the edits across multiple patches instead now, i.e. Unlimited Bookshelves Patch 1.esp has the first 253 masters, Unlimited Bookshelves Patch 2.esp the next 253 and so on, I think as long as the first patch covers the first 253 as they appear in the load order, the subsequent patch esps should overwrite them in the right order, i.e. anything that patch 2 overwrites from patch 1 will also have been overwritten by the second block of 253 plugins over the first block of 253 plugins and so the winner of the patches will apply to the correct item as it appears in the load order

Edit 2: Splitting the patches out seems to have worked, or at least, I was able to do it in xEdit without problems, will report back if I get any further problems with bookshelves whilst playing, I did it in blocks of 200 to leave a little leeway for dependencies of each block I loaded, it was a bit tedious but only took 15-30 minutes, keep one of the .esps named the default name so that LOOT stops telling you to use this patcher

      pr007 has the right idea.

Download the Unlimited Bookshelves Plugin Loader Generator for zEdit.

After you've installed them on xEdit, load up your full load order minus the unlimited bookshelves patch.  Next, run the Plugin Loader Generator.  Basically what this does is create a bunch of plugins to allow you to load only a select few plugins to run this patcher script against.

When I ran my plugin loader generator, I generated six plugins.

Now, close xEdit and reload it, this time only select a few of those newly generated plugins.  Run this patcher, exit out, and repeat again with the plugins that you didn't run before.

You should be able to create a couple of Unlimited Bookshelves Patches (that can be flagged as ESL) using this method without having to manually select any plugins yourself.

It's a bit more complex, but it should help you beat the 254 plugin limit.

Any chance this will be ported to Synthesis?

I'm getting this error when it's done, is this significant or can I ignore?

    Assertion failure

Hmm I found the unlimited shelf will affect my 'Dont Show Headgears' mod and causing my Archmage's rope having hood when it shouldn't. After testing, I'm pretty sure it's a conflict between the two mods. But the problem is I cannot find 'Don't show headgears' in my SSEEdit. If I followed the patching guide, it generated a patch without asking me anything about master/yes/no. Anyone knows how to solve the problem?? Both mods installed and functioning in game. Using Mod Organizer v2.4.4...
Or if anyone can give a way to stop the unlimited shelf from altering stuff other than books that would be much appreciated too! Pretty new to mods and this hood is freaking ugly....

I've been running this for a while with well over 1700 mods and never had an issue. Now it is telling me I have over 253 masters. Never had the issue before. There hasn't been an upgrade and I haven't changed anything. Why would it start doing this all of a sudden? Is there a reasonably intuitive way around this, like the filtering suggestion below? I only place books on the shelves.

I thought SSEEdit had done away with the 253 limit. I know they have reached version 2.1.5 but I am still on the Nexus 2.0.4 version. The zip download from Github does not give me anything to link the MO2 shortcut button to and I'm pretty useless trying to figure how that version works without an exe.

Same here! No obvious reason why it would start doing this all of a sudden.

It started for me after I updated MO2. That's why I came here. Damn.

Edit: Redownloaded the mod again, and installed the patch again. I must have accidentially some time ago as I updated my xedit added an older version of the generator from 2018. You need to use the one that was modified last 2020.

It's minor, but, the book Line and Lure from the silly fishing thing introduced does not play well.  Even after running the script.

Takes up about half a shelf.
