About this mod

Allows you to apply your potions as ointments, increasing their duration and decreasing magnitude.
Intended use: allow alchemists to enhance their abilities with potions, without carrying and drinking dozens of them.

Mod
This mod allows you to craft few [currently 3] kinds of ointments which modify next used potion[s], turning it into long-lasting, weaker version. It's simple thing, made mostly for my witchhunter character. Ointments last for 30 seconds and affects potions used during this time [longer duration will last after ointment's effect ends].

These should work with any potion, player-made, bought/found, added by mod etc, as long as effect has keyword MagicAlchBeneficial. Ointments will work for any effects labeled by this keyword. Potion with negative and positive effects will be partially affected.

Mod was tested on unmodded Skyrim SE [without any mods or SKSE], and with bunch of mods; there were no visible problems in both cases.
This mod does not use any scripts, and effects are hooked to player character by magic effect applying perk for its duration.

Items [crafted at cooking pot, need alchemy perk Benefactor, alternate version without perk requirement available]
Weak Ointment: 33% magnitude for 15 times duration for potions used during next 30 seconds
Recipe: use any meat, bigger cuts yield more
Regular Ointment: 40% magnitude for 15 times duration for potions used during next 30 seconds
Recipe: mix some Weak Ointment with Dwemer Oil
Potent Ointment: 50% magnitude for 15 times duration for potions used during next 30 seconds
Recipe: mix some Regular Ointment with Ectoplasm

Problems/bugs
  • When used with potions without magnitude, they will last longer without weaker effect. It's your game, but I don't recommend it.
  • When used on potions without duration, they will be weaker. Don't do it?
  • When used with crafting loops, mods rebalancing or changing durations you can end with useless or overpowered ointments. Be responsible ;)
