there's some question per Arthmoor that this mod does not function as intended as getdetected allegedly requires a target
at best, the mod works as described and at worse disables hired thugs; both of which I consider an improvement

I can't thank you enough for this. Hired thugs were by far the worst part of the vanilla game. I breathe a much easier sigh of relief that they don't come after me anymore.
I pickpocketed the key from Umbra (without being caught of course), the day after I had thugs after me. You can imagine how surprised I was. Umbra is a villain that never leaves his hideout, he never saw me do anything and yet somehow he hires people to do him justice. I am hoping this mod will fix what I consider a good but very poorly implemented feature in Skyrim.
I have no idea, I haven't had any thugs after me since Umbra. Still looking forward to discovering this myself. Awwwwwww!!! Wait a second! Isn't this what the mod is supposed to do? No thugs if you're not caught? This mod fixes it then.
It looks like based on the new conditions for hired thugs, if you pickpocket successfully with this mod, but the detection eye is open, they can still send the thugs, is that right? That seems to be happening for me (GetDetected would be true)
Yesterday was my first time meeting Hired Thugs (new player of course).
It was near the Whiterun walls outside : oddly, they did not attack me ! And I past right beside them to see what they were. :O
My only crime, I think, was a successful stealth "theft" for a quest (a letter as proof of a missing person) in a Whiterun noble house (oh wait, I think I did steal of piece of bread or something). Though the first time the kid (Lars) had seen me and asked to leave (I did). There are also random bugs like knocking over an item, a merchant who thinks it is nighttime because it is raining (Immersive citizens mod), etc.
Anyhow, this mod seems important, considering that I read how a ghost, dog, etc. can hire thugs to kill you (sigh, Bethesda). I guess they still could if they see you stealing.
ps: isn't there supposed to be a radiant quest marked though? Maybe those thugs were not there for me...?
These guys are so funny. They show up when I just join a faction or in the last instance when I was going to get a quest for Khajiit will follow. They spawned inside the cell for Sibbi Black-Briar with two handed weapons so I just left for a few days and came back.

but at the same time, how is this mod any different from the vanilla script that does the same thing?
Turned it to esl in Vortex. Should be esl in general, though.
Either way thanks for making & uploading
